Hank Stram, a legend in Kansas City sports history, died Monday in New Orleans following a lengthy illness.

He was 82.

Stram led the Chiefs to their only two Super Bowl appearances: In Super Bowl I the Chiefs lost to the Green Bay Packers, and in Super Bowl IV in 1970, the Chiefs defeated the Minnesota Vikings.

He beat the vikings badly in SB IV, a game we were supposed to win, but us old timers have nothing but respect for Coach Hank Stram.

If he had won a few more championships, it's quite possible teams would play for the Stram Award at the Super Bowl instead of the Lombardi Trophy. Hank Stram was that good.

My sympathies from Indy, he was one of the great class acts to ever grace the sidelines. Easily among the greatest.

Hank Stram was someone who helped bring us the NFL. He won a SB, and Set a legacy for KC Sports. It was a shame he had to wait so long to get into the Hall of Fame.

R.I.P. Coach

ps... This Super Bowl is for you!
