I'm sticking with the prediction I've had all year long, the Angels over the Cardinals in 7 because of the bullpen. _________________

It's what I had going into Spring Training. And I figure that I might as well stick to it. If the Astros get in on the Wild Card, at least I still had them in. Same with the Yankees and Red Sox. _________________

i'm not gonna stop believin in the O's yet. I think they acquire Burnett and Nevin, and play well enough in the final month to edge out the Yankees and Twins for the wild card. the A's won't let up in the final months either , they pass the Angels some time in the final two weeks to win the West. In the National League, everything is far more straightforward. the Division leaders all cruise, as Washington fades down the stretch. The Astros ride the arms of Pettite, Oswalt and Clemens to the playoffs.
Chicago stops Baltimore behind superb pitching from Buerhle, Garland and Garcia to reach the ALCS, while Oakland finally breaks their playoff hex by shocking Boston. The A's continue their stunning run in a seven game win over Chicago
St. Louis continues to barrel through everything in their path, sweeping San Diego before meeting Houston again in the NLCS, after the Astros slip past the Braves. The Cards take care of things in 6 games, in another superb series. Clemens again falters under pressure, denying the Astros yet again of a WS bid.
In the World Series, the fairytale A's are no match for the big bats and arms of St. Louis. Pujols and Co. rough up the rotation of Harden, Zito, Haren, and Blanton to take the championship in 5 games. _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

| I think its hard to judge at this point because most of the trades have not gone down yet. In a week, it might be easier. The trade deadline could decide who gets in as a wildcard, and maybe even a couple of divisions IMO. If Baltimore were to get Burnett, that makes them a different team than they are now. In the NL, anybody in the East who makes a significant move could put themselves ahead of the other teams. |

After seeing these last 3 games you're gonna say the Yankees are gonna win the World Series. Everybody thinks that the Yankees are in great shape because they are only two and a half back. What they don't realize is that the yankees played most of their easy games in the first half of the season, and didn't capitalize. In the coming weeks, Boston has TB again, and Kansas City. You have Anaheim again, Minnesota, and have yet to play the White Sox...Those losses to Milwaukee and KC might loom large right at the end of the season. |

First of all, we have only lost these 3 games by a total of 5 runs. That means a few breaks either way and we are talking about a 2-1 series. Secondly, a good team is supposed to take care of their home field. The Angels have. Thirdly, we are on a hard road trip, and have gone 3-1 in Boston, 2-1 in Texas, and 0-3 in LA. A 5-5 record on the road against potential playoff teams isn't anything to scoff at. You are right: we didn't capitalize against the easy teams, but that doesn't mean we have no chance. Everyone counted out Atlanta last year, then the went 63-27 down the stretch. Who are you to say a team full of veterans can't scrap their way to the World Series? |

Fair enough. I guess it could happen if their pitching turns it around. |

You realize that every team plays 162 games, right? Therefore, the chances of teams finishing .5 games back is very unlikley. The only way is a 1-game playoff and a rainout that can't be rescheduled. |
