That's true. Still don't think Soriano is seriously on the radar, but we'll see I suppose.

I don't either, hehe. I was trying to expand into the realm of other possibilities... I think we're pretty much set at closer. We could use some arms in the pen, but we really, really don't need to throw a ridiculous contract at soriano. _________________

Still hoping that DD is able to trade Porcello this off-season. He should be able to net either a good prospect or a decent player already in the majors. I know his stats are not overwhelming after giving up a league leading 226 hits last year but cmon, that defense is terrible for any groundball pitcher.
p.s. fangraphs shows he has gained nearly two miles per hour on his fastball from 2011 to 2012. |

| Quote: | If the Tigers want to trade Rick Porcello, they'll have no problem finding a taker.
Plenty of teams are interested, and quite a few National League teams asked about him at last week's winter meetings, sources say. |

| Quote: | When James Shields went from the Rays to the Royals the other night, the Tigers were doubly disappointed.
They didn't like seeing Shields land in their division, with a team that might now be good enough to challenge them. But there was another reason.
They wanted Shields, too.
The Tigers made a late bid for Shields, according to sources, offering outfielder Avisail Garcia and other prospects. The Rays like Garcia, but the Tigers weren't able to match the overall package the Royals offered. There's some debate about how much chance the Tigers had, but there's no question that they tried. |

Id love to re-sign Sanchez and trade Porcello.
Also, are the Rays selling now or something? Or could they just not afford Shields? Because if they are selling, I'd easily throw whatever at them to get Price. _________________ Kate Upton for sexy President!!!

jeez, thank god we didn't land Shields. The Royals overpaid by a ton, if we would've matched their offer... I might've cried _________________

The Tigers couldn't possibly match without trading away significant major league talent. _________________

Yeah. Still, would've hated seeing us part ways with Nick C or Garcia for Shields... just not a fan of his. _________________

If they were looking at Shields, I wonder if they're looking at someone like Matt Garza?
As for the Rays, they're not selling really. They just have an abundance of pitching and got a nice haul. Shields is good though and I think they'll miss him. _________________

Not huge fan of Sancgez deal but Det only team really improving this offseason so far.
Cleveland got good deal for Choo but no immediate help. Better manager helps.
Martinez and Hunter in lineup will be nice. Full year of Infante too.
Laird loss is huge IMO though. _________________

Hopefully. Porcello is a decent young pitcher. But he's a bad fit in Detroit. We don't have the defense behind him for him to flourish as a groundball pitcher. I hope he finds success someplace else because he has been a quality guy, on and off the field. I hope DD can move him for some bullpen help.

Heard we are in trade talks with Angels, Porcello for either Trumbo, Bourjes or Moralis. Someone told me that, not sure how true, _________________

It's kind of true. The Tigers and Angels have talked about Porcello and there is a seperate rumor that the Angels are Shopping Trumbo, Bourjos, and Morales.
They would have to give up a good prospect plus Porcello for Trumbo, and i'm sure they aren't interested in Morales because he is a DH. Porcello for Bourjos straight up seems fair and I would like that trade. _________________

Portabello and Castellanos/Garcia for Trumbo
Sounds good to me. _________________
