Wilkin Ramirez Double-A stats:
.304/.369/.505, 18 HR, 64 RBI, 113 K to 35 BB, 22 SB in 362 at bats.
Wow. He turns 23 in October. Looks like Los Tigres have a young stud.
As for his chances of starting, it'd have to be in left field. Maggs is likely out of Detroit after next year, Granderson is locked up through 2013. Thames is on a one year deal, and I see him coming back.
If Ramirez can show he can rake in Triple-A and the Tigers aren't in the race next summer, I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Ordonez to make room for Ramirez. |
that could happen what do you all think the value of Ordoneuz is. _________________

I sorta think that Maggs will resign with us for a smaller contract. He is in contention to win a second straight batting tittle, why would the Tigers want to lose him. _________________

exactly, the Tigers will resign him if he keeps the production up and the Tigers contend, he will be 34 next year I beleive, so he is getting older, the DH spot will be all Maggs' when he gets a little too old for the outfield. _________________

I cant see Detroit being that busy, we should keep Renteria, he is getting back offensively and he is efficient defensively, but Franky wqants way too much money and is a much more younger, ferocious, version of Todd Jones, the Sheets signing isnt bad, but Joyce will play LF next year and Clevlen will be a likely 4th outfielder or traded, and Inge will be the starting catcher guarenteed, unless Joe Mauer gets cut for some reason, which he wont.
Also, I heard wonderfull news on SC this morning, Sheffeild is unhappy with his role, and would be fine with a trade (waivers), if we could ship him out anywhere, I would be happy, he doesnt deserve playing time anymoire, and might be better as a NL LF with the D'Backs, and we get back a prospect or something and unload Sheff's salary.
Also, for the rest of this year, out "closer" suck, Bobby Seay has been amazing since he has been with the Tigers, I think he should be the new closer after Rodney fails again or Farnsworth when he eventually fails (hasnt had a chance yet). _________________

Well it's official, Sheffield has been placed on waivers. Doubt we can get much of anything for him but it's not like we're getting much from him right now anyway. _________________

So we just signed Freddie Garcia. I gotta say, with how things are going, im kind of suprised. I expected this to happen about nowish if we were in the thick of the race, but i cant imagine why he chose us at this point....
Not the greatest signing, but he should be an improvement late in the rotation. It just doesnt seelm like this will be the thing that pushes us over the top, and ive basically given up on this season anyway...
Also, while ive been saying we should get Huston Street for a while, ive also been talking to some friends and co. about it.... I dont watch him that often, but from what im hearing, I'd rather have Todd step back in. |

Why would the D-Backs want Sheffield when they already have Conor Jackson. _________________

The rare trade that sucks for both teams, the As dont get nearly enough, and the Tigers give up a good prospect for a bad releiver, and probly have to pay Sheff's contract for the remainder of the year. _________________

Supposedly he wasn't the only guy we placed on waivers though no names have been leaked.
I'd have to assume Jones and Renteria would be among them. _________________
