Rob Mullens presser:

"What we want is someone who understands the culture. It is unique here."

"We have a number of internal candidates...we have several coaches on our staff who have experience and a background of being a head coach...but we will also talk to other coaches outside the program."

Rob Mullens says there is no interim plan at Oregon.

Interim wouldn't be terrible if there was someone out there that might pop up next year. Sort of how OSU rolled with Fickell and snagged Meyer.

I think making Helfrich the interim HC would be ideal, IMO. He'd keep the system in place and Oregon would have a chance to evaluate him for a year before deciding if he is the coach of the future. If not, then you have all offseason next year to find your guy.

I don't think that'll happen though. I think Helfrich will be named the head coach in a fairly quick process.

For a team thread with a coaching search, it sure is dead up in here. By this point, Gruden had already signed his deal 3 times, was scheduled for a press conference, and Bill Belichick was going to be our DC.

Helfrich is a lock to be the HC Laughing I think everyone here thought he was going to be the 2013 HC after Chip came back last year. He was going to leave eventually. We had the guy next up already ready.

Well that's boring. What's the point in losing your HC if you don't get the fun of searching for another?

I wouldn't really blame Chip for that. If they want to leave let them. Would be hilarious if you went to the championship game without them. Them send them a twitter message
