This kills other team's around the league though. I would bet any team looking to extend their QB soon would rather not see this happen. I would also bet that Philip Rivers is happy about this, but the Chargers aren't. All this is going to do is inflate QB contract's that much more around the league. How much is Philip Rivers going to command when he gets an extension? Just because most everybody doesn’t agree with the contract and thinks it would it hinder the Giants down the road doesn’t mean it’s a good thing for the rest of the league.

I think Eli should take a paycut like Brady did after winning the Super Bowl to help out the team.

I agree the Giants should try and lock him up but he doesn't deserve to be paid like the best QB in the league is in the top 10, but that isn't saying much.

Are you kidding?

There is absolutely no way he's worth that much money. He's an average to above average QB, and I struggle to see him getting significantly better than that in his career. Locking him up like that would be a huge mistake on the Giants part.

yeah great move, i hear the giants are prepared to offer R.W. mcquarters a 6 year 80 million dollar contract as well, its good that they are locking up their veterans to contracts that aren't worth it, they definitely wont come back to bite them right in the butt, great idea jerry reese, brilliant.

WHY would anyone do this? hes not worth it, give the oline a big pay day, they deserve it the most

probably hanging out with the yankees GM to much.

If he would do this, that would one of the largest wastes of money of the past year not made by Al Davis.

No way is Eli worth 110 million dollars, no way

Are you kidding me?

Eli isnt even a top 5 qb in this league.

1. Manning
2. Brady (if healthy)
3. Drew Brees
4. Phillip Rivers
5. Donovan McNabb

Eli Manning isn't a bad quarterback, and although people are blaming him for the loss in this year's playoff's, Eli is also responsible for much of the overall success this season, even though not the best player in the team, he's important too.

But I agree that amount of money is just too much...
Now that's a common thing. And Eli Manning is also somewhat of a symbol of the Giants, he's got some market value beyond his ability to be the best quarterback, so in the end, franchise's revenues might payoff that huge salary in the end, more than if he was a little better QB but with less marketability...

He should be paying some of that to the players that make him look so good. The problem with that big of contract is it doesnt give the team enough room to sign players in other need areas. Kind of selfish to get paid like that. Although i hate the Pats i respect Brady for giving some of his money up to bring in talent. That shows all he really cares about is winning. Both guys are also getting millions in endorsments.

If its like a 10 year like of deal then I say he is worth it... He is a SB winning QB. But if its like a 6-7 year kind of deal, then its a little too much IMO.

Do you think Brad Johnson deserved a 10 year deal?

Shocked Shocked Shocked
WHY?? In 10 years he will be 39 years...
*Waits for people to pick their mouths up from the floor*
And by that time, he will STILL be making around 10 mil a year...TOTALLY not worth it. Stupid, stupid, stupid if the Giants actually do it. Plus, he's not even that amazing of a QB. He is good, yes. But great? No.

I was coming here RIGHT NOW to post this as a new topic but you beat me.

Eli Manning may get it but if you're talking about the better player to get the award then it's Rivers obviously. Rivers is a great QB that is the strength of his team right now. When you're talking about Tomlinson going on a decline and not being the best player on the team anymore, Rivers is their next best player.

Manning is the weak link of the Giants team. Defense is great from the front seven to the secondary. Great OL, great WRs, top-notch running game, Kevin Boss replaced Jeremy Shockey in ONE postseason performance but Manning lost the game on Sunday for the Giants. He's overshadowed by the running game and that's honestly what gives him the success through the air to make a couple throws each game but when Jacobs is gone.... yeah.

Rivers basically went 16 games without Tomlinson and made the playoffs. Slimly, but still Very Happy

Rivers is a great QB. He should be the first one to get it and if not, that obviously won't mean a thing either Razz
