there were only a couple funny parts in the movie but the scene with the about tim meadows calling will arnett a jive turkey was hilarious, not b/c of the gun part but just the thought that jive turkey is a racial slur

I thought semi-pro was hilarious.

I'm digging your reviews though. I find them all interesting to read. Keep them coming.

i thought it was funny too, i own it, but cinematically speaking it wasn't too great.

That would be on par with my ranking. I laughed when I saw it, but there wasn't much out it that stuck with me, and while I was watching I thought, been there, seen that, it seems like with the exception of Stranger then Fiction.

Caddyshack [1980, Harold Ramis]

The story of the free-spirited versus the establishment. The caddies at the local country club, Bushwood, are a bunch of pot-smoking slackers, however there is one in the bunch who wishes to further his life, Danny. He searches for advice everywhere, from country club elite Judge Smails (Ted Knight) to the anti-establishment Ty Webb (Chevy Chase). The film depicts Danny trying to get over the hump, so to speak, on his future, with plenty of laughs on the way, Rodney Dangerfield plays a great Al Czervik, the loud-mouthed, slob, however, very wealthy man. And we can't forget about Bill Murray and his hilarious character, the local greens keeper, a drunk who is obsessed with riding the gold course of the gophers that have infested it with explosives, and its explosively funny.

Most of us have seen it, and for good reason, Caddyshack is one of the most quoted comedies of all-time. There is endless comedy and although it is crude and juvenile at times, it is one of my personal favorites and a film that holds a lot of personal meaning to me, and although the plot line is rather weak the humor makes up for it and make s this film a classic comedy that everyone remembers and enjoys, if you haven't seen it, you need to.

The Verdict: B+ - 86%

He tried to stiff me. So I said, how about a little something, you know... for the effort.

I love Carl Spackler, but my favorite character is played by Rodney Dangerfield.

"You scratched my anchor!"

"I bet if you buy that hat you get a free bowl of soup. Oh but it looks good on you, though..."

Such a funny movie. Laughing

Ah, I can agree with your assessment of the movie then. I just was squealing with laughter throughout the movie, which is why I disagreed with you at first.

Caddyshack is one of my all time favorites as well. Think I'm going to have to watch tomorrow now.

I think all 4 main characters (not including Danny Noonan) are brilliant in their own ways.

Rodney is Rodney. "Somebody step on a duck?"

Chevy Chase is so quick witted and irreverent. "I like you, Betty." "Danny, sir" "...Danny."

Bill Murray's mind is in a whole other world with Carl Spackler. "Big hitter, the Lama."

And Ted Knight's facial responses to the buffoonery around him are just outstanding. "It's easy to grin...when your ship's come in...and you've got the stock market beat...but a man worthwhile....is a man who can smile...when his shorts aren't too tight in the seat. Ha ha ha, okay pookie."

Anyone who plays golf HAS to watch this movie. If you do, you will finally know what half of the conversations on the tees are about.

This movie has many great moments. Rodney was the star of the movie for me, but Bill Murray and his "he really got into that one" scene was classic too.

This movie also has the greatest movie quote of all time:

Danny Noonan (as he's trying to kiss up to the Judge to win a scholarship): "I've always wanted to go to law school, but it looks like my parents won't have the money to send me."

Judge Smails: "Well, the world needs ditch diggers too!

Caddyshack is quite possibly the funniest movie I've ever seen.

Carl the Greenskeeper: "Mrs. Crane...you wore green so you could hide. Oh you're a little monkey woman, you know that? I will teach you the meaning of the word respect..." Laughing

I've decided that it is Ted Knight that makes that movie work. Everyone else is doing their thing and being hilarious and Ted Knight makes the perfect sounding board for all of that stuff to bounce off of.

Plus, without him, then you don't get Spaulding. "You'll get NOTHING and like it!"
