Agreed! Extremely happy for him, as that was the RIGHT decision to make. |
Paralympic athletes shouldn't run in the Olympics. |
Curious; why not?
It's a unique case, as we've never seen a situation whereby someone considered to be disabled is, in fact, able-bodied enough to compete in the Olympics, rather than the Paras.
Personally, I'm a-okay with him competing - as long as there remains substantial evidence that demonstrates he's not deriving any benefit from the blades - but he should certainly reconsider competing in the Paras. Michael Johnson's questioning of what happens if we have a situation whereby a Wariner-esque runner having to adopt blades is merely confusing an already-difficult situation. |

While I agree in principle, I am sure his blades weigh less than what a man of his stature's lower legs would weigh which in itself is an advantage derived.
I don't think he is going to be good enough to show himself in the individual event, but the 4x400 relay team is going to be of interest. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Interesting point, regarding the weight of the blades. Would be interesting to weigh up the pros of that, versus the relative "explosion" of a 400m runner's calves.
I'm not sure he's even picked for the 400m individual, but here's hoping his place in the relays is earnt on sporting merit, rather than other reasons. |

| Great tactical race by Rupp. I thought he gave too much territory half way through the race but the pack came back to him. I kind of hoped he would take the lead with 600 and try and break Mo but he could also kill himself. Deserved the silver |

Convicted steroid user and got the US "arbitration" to lift his ban just in time for the Olympics. Sorry but I despise the man. Same goes for Lagat; if he goes out in the first round, I'll drink a beer to that. |

Well I don't like Lagat either (mainly for not running for the US in '04), but I really like Merritt. _________________ clowney.

I'd certainly agree with you there. The Olympics are not the place for anyone who has knowingly taken performance enhancing drugs and I'm not about to change my stance for the O's.
Got some very odd looks from other attendees during the 1st round proper of the 100 heats, making it perfectly-clear that Chambers was taking the place of an athlete - granted, one who wasn't as "good" as him - who hadn't decided to cheat himself and others out of opportunities. IMO, he wasn't welcome there and was another individual who got in on legal grounds, despite always knownig GB's approach to drug cheats.
Makes my blood boil and I hate how it has been swept under the carpet. |

Damn the teams there must have been legit if they made Mansfield look bad, they're top 5 in the state (although Massachusetts may not be the best XC state) consistently.
Unrelated, its so damn hard being a 1 season runner _________________
