Does anyone play BSSC football? Playing for the first time this season and games started yesterday. Was pretty fun. Won 44-28 or something like that. _________________

So anyone catch the newest Hunger Games movie and/or read the books?
I read the books months ago and just saw the movie yesterday. I definitely thought it was a solid movie that lived up to some of the awesome that was the first book.
What I most loved about the movie though was the perspective that they took. The thing I most hated about the Twilight series (yes I read/saw it ) was that they kept the central focus so similar to the book- the used Bella's "perspective" as the main vantage point that the viewer saw the film through. A 1st person perspective focused on all things Bella... like the books.
Whereas with the Hunger games we were allowed to see things that weren't included in the books, things that could've only been imagined. It went from the 1st person perspective that we saw in the book and sort of used a hybrid focus between 1st person (Katniss perspective) as well as 3rd person limited, so that we could get a sense of what the surrounding characters were each seeing and experiencing... building depth for their characters.
The book didn't much focus on the Gamemaker and while Caeser Flickerman was important in the book, both characters were so much more important in the execution of the movie. Just as important as the main protagonists if not more IMO. I really LOVED the direction that they took with this, it allowed the story for the movie to be creative in its own way- give the fans even more depth, without sacrificing some of the cannon from the books. It also allowed them to narrow down the characters to strictly the MOST important ones to tell the story... even if the book also carried many important characters.
I thought the movie was Joe Flacco solid. Not elite, not great, but something that you definitely shouldn't be disappointed to spend your money on.
What did you guys think of the book/movie? Or even the hype? _________________

I'm not sure a man of your age should admit to something like that _________________

Well... I missed out on reading Harry Potter and I wanted to feel "included."

You guys voting for the 2000 Ravens in NFL.com's Bracketology? I have like 20 times already.
If anyone doesn't know, we are in the Championship against the 76 Raiders. Here is the link. _________________

I purposely wasn't voting for them when they went up against the 49ers because no way did I think we'd beat them.. in the poll nor IRL. But hey, against the 76 Raiders, we'd definitely have more than a shot. I think we'd win big (well 13-3 is big to me with that offense). Our defense would simply be too much for any offense prior to the era it played in (except the 9ers probably). But hey, if we upset them... I'm game for voting. _________________

Everyone needs to vote for Aaron Rodgers for the Madden 13 cover here (over Ray Rice) so that we don't have to take a chance that the Madden Curse isn't real _________________

The deed has been done. I actually think I want to see Patrick Willis get the cover though. I'd like to see some defensive improvements in Madden and though the game is probably pretty much already in the closing stages of development, I'd sort of "feel" like they made some defensive improvements via seeing a defensive player on the cover.
Besides Rice, I really don't want Cam nor CJ to get the cover for curse reasons. Both are two of my favorite non-Raven players. _________________

I voted for Rice. The Madden Curse has become people making a bunch of reaches to keep it alive. _________________

Advanced to round two. Close call. Got teamed up with the AFC North and had to wait on the Browns rep to show up. Thanks to drd, FlaccoMania, RavensTillIDie, and diamondbull. Someone counted it up and we were top 5 in sponsors. Ball So Hard University showin' out. Everyone who missed it, you can still help out.
Same drill as last time.

I figured I'd quote RavingMadd (the first vote for the 2nd round I saw) and we could do that to make it easier for tallying up purposes. My post should be in the middle or bottom of page 59...

Ravens Nation representing District 12... obviously we're going to win this and bring peace to this great nation of Panem. So all other teams chill the freak back!
Sponsor - Baltimore Ravens and my boy DontTazeMeBro for round 2. I'll send a pair of jetpack socks... this gift brought to you by Fruit of the Loom, NASA, and myself DB424. |
