| Jackson is really struggling. He's struck out in 7 of his last 8 PAs. |

Yeah he better fix that because I don't want to see him sent back to AAA.
Hopefully that double by Vitters is a sign of things to come, he crushed that bad boy. Thought for sure it was going for 3 runs. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

Holy Golden Sombrero, Brett Jackson. He saw a lot of pitches, but struck out in every AB. Ugly. He and Vitters both played good D, though. Part of the growing pains.
The silver lining is that with all this losing, we are firmly in the #3 pick for next year's draft, and we are gaining ground on Colorado and Houston (although I doubt anybody is catching them). |
Yeah I definitely can't see us losing a 10 game lead on you guys for the 1st pick. Haha. |
It's only 8.5 games, and the Astros and Cubs still play each other 9 times. Plenty of time to "gain" ground. |
Yall will sweep every series. _________________

Cool to see Vitters and Jackson on the team. I don't expect too much from either one this year. It's disappointing that Jackson has struggled this year (in the minors and in the bigs so far), but it's really cool that Vitters turned things around in AAA. _________________

Movin' on up!
| Quote: | Jorge Soler - OF - Cubs
Cubs prospect OF Jorge Soler has been promoted to Low-A Peoria.
The Cubs gave Soler a nine-year, $30 million contract in June, so there's no incentive to delay his ascension through the minors. He was hitting .260 with two home runs in 13 games at the Rookie League level. |

He's been really good in his first 4 games there as well, going 5 for 14, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 BBs and 0 Ks. Sat out last night due to a minor ailment (I would guess stomach bug) but should be in the lineup again tonight.
Albert Almora was promoted to short season A ball last night and went 2-5 in his debut with a HR and a single. Apparently he was robbed of another XBH on a terrific diving play by the opposing LF.
Some really exciting things happening in the farm system. _________________

Interesting. That puts Castro at around $8.5M per year - though I'm sure it doesn't jump up to that right away. He shouldn't have a hard time being worth that much. _________________

I have a hard time thinking he isn't worth that and probably will outplay it once there are players around him. _________________

I love this deal for Starlin, I think it's going to be a steal in a few years. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

I read today that the Cubs are relocating the A Chiefs to Kane County, about 120 miles closer to Chicago. KC is maybe a half hour ride from my house, I'll be stoked to see some of the Cubs prospects, Soler especially. _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

Soler won't be there next year, if it happens. You'd be looking at some of the really good prospects that are currently at Boise and possibly a few who are currently at rookie level Mesa.
But the affiliate that really needs to be changed is the one in Daytona. As is the case every August, they've had crazy amounts of rain. 5 of their last 8 games have been rained out. This really sucks when the #1 prospect in the system currently plays there. _________________

I still will wait to see them when they come to play the Kernals (Cedar Rapids, LA Angles team) rather than go to Peoria I guess. Cheaper and only a 5 minute drive. _________________

Lucky that you get to even see them. Especially next year. The Boise team this year is one of the most legit prospect-laden teams in all of minor league baseball and most of them will start out in the Midwest League in 2013. _________________
