My high school coach would always say that. I think it makes sense though.
I agree though throwing a bunch of players together and only having a few days of training and then putting them up against a European powerhouse is a recipe for disaster but I just had faith in the MLS to pull it out.

What an odd ending to the United/Union game.
D.C. was awarded a penalty in the 86th minute or so, De Rosario converts but it was disallowed because Pontius was called for encroachment (he entered the arch before DDR shot). Before De Rosario sets up for the redo, a shoving match ensued which caused Boskovic to be sent off. De Rosario then airmails the redo of the PK leaving the score level. In stoppage time, another D.C. player got sent off making it 11 v. 9. The Union fail to get any good chances and in the waning moments of the match Sheanon Williams receives his second yellow card (which was ridiculous, because he got all ball) and refuses to go off the pitch, causing the likes of Hamid and McDonald to try and force him off.
Then the match eventually ends with two United players shoving each other.
