Sons of Anarchy ran for seven seasons on FX, from 2008-2014, and in the process built a huge following. Sutter said the film will star Charlie Hunnam, who played the lead character Jax Teller, as well as Ryan Hurst who played Opie Winston, and Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller. The film, which is a prequel to the storyline of Sons will also introduce fans to Jax’s father, John, who will be played by Brad Pitt.

Uhhhhh, sounds like a VERY questionable premise to say the least. And Pitt as John Teller, I don't know about that....

Sounds to me Sutter trying to find a way to get his wife into a major motion picture...

Don't see how they are going to do a prequel when the actors have aged so much from season 1. When they were showing the flashbacks back to season 1 during the final season I was astounded how young Charlie Hunnam looked. I guess with enough makeup and CGI they could maybe pull it off. But I think they would be better off going back to the start of the club and doing a total recast with a younger JT, Clay, Gemma, Piney etc. Cast a couple of toddlers to play Jax and Opie. Show how the club was started and the disputes that came up along the way that led to Clay and Gemma to killing off JT.

Hearing now that it may be fake. Not sure, figured I'd post it. Never know with Sutter trying to get his wife in a movie.

I had read something a while ago about a prequel show that FX wanted andSutter was on board with but not a movie.

There's nothing I hate more than prequels. I hope it is a sequel so I won't have to watch it. I'm debating whether or not to watch the new season of Fargo even though I LOVED Fargo. There's just no excitement whatsoever in prequels, especially when you know what happens in the prequels.

Some differences are Better Call Saul. You don't know how Saul got to be Saul, so there's interest there.

Sons of Anarchy prequel series? You know Clay and Gemma had pretty much everything to do with Teller's death, so there's no intrigue and no suspense.

I hate, hate, hate prequels. If there's ever a prequel, it should happen exactly how the Harry Potter prequel is going. In the same universe, but completely unrelated to the characters in the original series.

For the most part I agree. The only sort of prequel series I'd want to see - and to be honest I'm not sure I trust FX (much less Sutter) to do a period piece (which this would have to be since it'd be set at least in the late 70's to early 80's) - would be a prequel series (or miniseries - not sure I'd want it going longer than a single season) centering around the First 9 and the founding of the club (and SAMCRO).

Of course, Sutter wouldn't be on board as much with this because there's not way his age-addled wife can play her late-20's self.

Seasons 2-4 were gold.

I'd rank Season 7 above 5 & 6 but that's where it ends.

Loved how Chiklis shows up in the final two episodes and a great reference to The Shield but Sons of Anarchy fell below The Shield, although not terribly.

The problem with Sons like most shows is that it decline as it went on and storylines were stretched due to demand. The Shield got better and better where the last season was the best. A rarity.

A lot of people comparing it to Breaking Bad in terms of which was better and I'd give the slight edge to Sons because Breaking Bad I thought milked certain characters too long and the 2 year timeline for most of the series is too unrealistic whereas the Sons went with 5 years to cover 7 seasons. Acting-wise, of course Breaking Bad was a notch higher but Michael Cranston is one man.

I am currently on season 7 episode 7 and I'd have to say that this season has been my favorite season of SOA thus far.

Very rare.

I've seen more people put it at the bottom of their list than at the top but at #1? Intriguing.

Off topic: If you ever have a chance to check out Danny Trejo's documentary, do it. One of the most interesting documentaries I've ever seen. Before he was famous, he was just like the characters that he's played.
