Quote:
Toei Animation announced today that production has begun on Dragon Ball Super, the first Dragon Ball television series to debut in 18 years. The series will follow the events of the film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F and is set to debut in Japan sometime this July.

Little else is known about the series so far, but it will bring the first new ongoing series in the Dragon Ball world since Dragon Ball GT in the mid 90s. Dragon Ball Kai was first broadcast in 2009, but it was a revised version of Dragon Ball Z. .

I'm fanboying... again Dancing

I was into the DB and DBZ saga a lot as a kid...so this might be worth a look.

To the people who know DBZ well: Wouldn't this movie be a spinoff because Goku is dead after he fought the summoning dragon? Or am I missing something?

I feel like DBZ ended just fine. Do we need more?

and I say this because I loved Dragon Ball Z. I don't want to see this new series ruin what we had.

Didn't the last series end like 15 or 20 years ago? I remember when I was a fan as a kid that it was already done with.

This is cool, though. I'm sure a bunch of new fans will be made.

I think because the voice actors are still fresh their going to try and maximize on the popularity of the original series.

Or wait is this based on the new Japan version or is America making a new one? 2nd series specials aren't always that great. I mean just look at Legend of Korra. So damn preachy and so poorly scripted I should have just watched CNBC.

Korra was greatly disappointing.

Better. I don't know about you, but I can't stand being preached at. It seemed like they were more interested and put more effort in w/e message they had for that episode then the story as a whole.

To each his own though.

So excited Shocked .
Best news ever. Will have to live nder a rock near itsJapanese release because I don't want to hear any spoilers going into the show.

Ambivalent about them sticking with the Z characters, might be good to mix it up a little. Maybe bbeerus and Whis can become main characters alongside Goku and Vegeta (if such a possibility lines up with this new series` point in time).

I wish I could be excited but I can't help but ask where do they even go from the end of DBZ? They had already gotten to a ridiculous level of transformations and power levels. How much stronger can the enemies get? What fresh take can they even have?

Then again I haven't seen the new movies that everyone seems to be raving about so maybe that's why people are so excited.

There's a plot element introduce in one of them that makes way for the likely path to be taken by this new series. I won't spoil it, but it's a fairly promising concept.
