I've been looking around for scenarios and there is this rumor that if the bucs sign griese we would most likely trade and get Chris Simms. Is there any truth to this? And how would he fit in here in Cleveland. _________________ We In Cleveland bleed orange and brown. |

Simms has proven nothing Davey has proven nothing so all these rumors having us pick up some late round draft choice QB from another team for one of our 3rd or 4th rd pick are stupid and need to stop _________________

Davey has proved little, but he may have the strongest arm in the NFL, bar none.
Simms will come along in time.
It's obvious that Crennel want's a QB who can make all the throws and excel at play action. |

They aren't going to stop. Why would all these rumors be swirling if that wasn't the way we intend to get our next QB? You say these guys have proven nothing, I say nonsense. They have been in professional football a lot longer than any draftee, and are far more ready to start than Rodgers or Smith.
Both the rumors I've read were in major newspapers, not on some sketchy website. The idea of trading for another team's backup is in no way stupid. There is no QB in the draft who we could get in the 3rd or 4th round that would be able to come in and start, but we could use one of those picks to get someone who could. By trading. If the rumors are circling, that's because Savage is making calls. I don't think he would be making those calls if that was not the direction he intended to go.
If you don't think this is a good idea, you should probably keep it to yourself. The more you rail against the idea, the more foolish you shall look in retrospect. Just remember what Phil Savage said at his first press conference. He wants to put a winner on the football field and he needs the fans to trust him. |

I think they want to win in both the short term and long term.
That means Depth. The Browns lack depth at certain key positions.
Crennell wouldn'y be looking at Simms or Davey if he thought
he couldn'y make them become what he needs.
Crennell and Savage play to win. You can call it a "rebuild", but they will
not tolerate getting their tails kicked in every other Sunday. |

| Thankfully our scouting staff does more research than the "Sucks/Doesn't Suck" test. |

Well, they really don't need to do more than the "suck/doesn't suck" test with Simms, cause he plain and simple sucks. I'd rather have Josh Harris who is our current #3 QB.
We do not need a QB right now, no one in the draft is that good, and no one is worth trading for at the moment. Just keep builing the defense and O-line and we'll be fin in 2 years. |

Thank you for your simple opinion. I don't think we would be looking at him in trade if Savage and Co. shared your opinion. Obviously, they think he has the tools necessary to run the offense.
Would you be against this trade if it were Gerrard Warren for Simms straight up? |

Yes, I think we can fetch more for Warren, Simms is not good, and even if he has talent, Warren has much more trade value than that, I would be very dissappointed in Savage if that was the best he could get, or if he did a classic Botch, and locked on without looking at alternatives.

| Since I've heard rumors about Rohan Davey, Billy Volek and Chris Simms, I don't think Savage is locking on. I made up the trade scenario, since I haven't heard anything about what we are offering. But I think getting rid of Warren and bringing in a young gun at QB (maybe picking up a late round pick as well) would be a good trade. |

| I would much rather trade Warren for another draft pick or two... That way, we could pick up a few more prospects and get more depth in the positions needed... It doesnt matter if we have a sucks/doesnt suck scale, because when you can't even start most of your college career over someone who never even seen the NFL (Major Applewhite), you must be a pretty horrible player... Simms is only popular because of his dad.... I'd like to keep Warren, because I think that Romeo will change his attitude... Maybe he will hit the weights a little bit and get better, maybe as good as he used to be... |

Couldn't be any more WRONG actually...
Simms was the starter over Griese when Johnson got benched and was doing fine, then he got hurt, Griese stepped in, an Griese excelled.
He's not horrible, and in fact, he's probably better than Holcomb I dare say.
SO, given the chance swap picks with TB for Simms, I'd take it, if for nothing else than we can grab Barron at 6 and it won't be a huge reach, thus solidifying two of our holes.
This is all assuming Griese doesn't get cut...

I'm glad someone finally came to the defense of Simms. I think he has much more potential in our (the Pat's) offense, than in the West Coast. Added bonus: He's a lefty, and out best linman is RT Ryan Tucker. Blindside protection already taken care of.
I think if we could pick up an add'l 4th or 5th rounder out of the deal, that would be awesome. There are some very good prospects available then (Dustin Fox, Jonathan Goddard and plenty of other "tweeners"). Barron is still a bit of a reach at 6, as we could probably trade down as low as 12-15 and still get him. |
