Yet. We need to realize the extent of Drew Brees injury. The man tore his labrum in his throwing shoulder. A very tough injury to return fully healthy from, especially from somone who was a soft arm QB to begin with. Sound Familiar...Anyone? How about Chad Pennington? They are practically the same QB now with the same injury, and possibly the same future. Phil is an insurance policy until we see how things pan out. I'd mush rather heal Drew, have him pass the physical and trade him. More Value for a risky situation. Rivers has gone the way of Carson spent seasons under the tutilage of a smart QB learning the book and system chomping at the bit to play. Don't epect a trade until at least a few weeks into the regukar season.

You're wrong because a torn rotator cuff and a torn labrum is different and the labrum doesn't affect the throwing arm so much.

Brees' injury is different from Pennington's; it's not nearly as bad and the recovery time is shorter. Many athletes who have had the same injury said their arms had never felt better once their rehab was completed.

I agree with you to some extent, simply because the possibility of trading Rivers and then discovering Brees will never be back to his old self would be devastating to the franchise. Still, as noted above, the injury isn't as severe as first feared. I think the main effect of the Brees injury will simply be to delay a Rivers trade until the summer rather than before the draft.

I think we should trade Rivers if and only if we know we can improve out team. If AJ believes that Feely is a capable backup, and can get a secondary guy, or some picks in this draft (I want a first and a prospect, or a second this year and a first next year) he should trade Rivers.

Worse comes to worse with Brees we can be a Steeler type team where we hand the ball to LT/Turner 80% of the time, and controll the oppsoing teams running game with our front 7.

I believe Brees will come back just as good as he was, and with (hopefully) an upgraded O-line, he shouldn't have to worry about his blindside as much.

I trust whatever AJ does is right for the team.

I have a feeling we will probably hold onto Rivers until his contract ends and/or until he demands a trade. Whichever comes first.
