Any one here likes rap? I only listen to bay area rap(some Slim Thug..) and im trying to listen to some other rap from around the country.

Please don't say "drake" "lil wayne" "Nicki Minaj"...don't just don't

Meek Mill is a boss. And Big Sean has hella swag.

Big Sean is a pretty good pick tbh. I hated him at first but he's his own dude and that alone is dope.

Mac Miller drops some lines like that every now and then. But Big Sean is maybe a step above Mac imo. I don't listen to these guys alot but I hear enough from friends that I know where to give props and where to cry murder lol

Good list. Lupe Fiasco is light years ahead of any other rapper lyrically. Honestly, guys like Big Sean and Mac Miller are just talentless rappers that get plays at parties.

I don't know why you say don't name Drake like he isn't a conscious artist who actually tells relevant stories in his music. If you haven't given him a chance, I would. Take Care, his latest album, contains plenty of deep, relatable music.

Someone else knows of Shwayze? 2nd time this has ever happened. 1st being with a girl I should have hooked up with but didn't cause she had a boyfriend (kohl's girl 3828)

Granted, I only really know Get You Home because of the Travis Barker Remix

(edited for typo. ocd)

Shwayze is good music. I have an old school east coast biased when it comes ti hip hop. And no new hip hop is any good. Besides maybe currensy/wiz before he signed with Atlantic, and lupe fiasco. Also a fan of this "kidd upstairs" guy that is coming up right now.

Only hip hop i regularly listen to is: old jay-z, nas, biggie (of course the GOAT), Mos Def, Mob Deep, Wu-Tang Clan. Kanye (first two albums) rakim, and im forgetting some.

Hmm, do you see this NCough? We got a west coaster who knows Cool

Although tbh I've been comin' around with the West Coast Rap. Get this: In a music class I just finished, we had to know about (including members, by stage name and real name): NWA, Public Enemy and Run DMC.

Talking about rap. Does anybody like dudes like Immortal Technique, Brother Ali, Vinnie Paz, etc.? You know the speak out kind of guys? I listened to Techniques "The Martyr" and I loved that joint. Rich mans world is where he showed that he can spit kind of faster than he normally does.

"Rap" for the most part doesn't exist much anymore it seems.

But if I were to list what most recently listen to and what I used to w/ rap it'd be:

Cyne:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYEuqhEuoi0 <-- amazing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7YNh2gQdB8

Common Market
Spice 1
Brotha Lynch Hung
MC Eiht
UGK
Wu
WindchILL is OK but gets redundant
and a bunch of other ish you've probably heard a million times before. I used to like a lot of rap back in the day but then I kinda grew out of it... got worse and worse once Master P burst onto the scene and showed everyone how much money you could make w/ a hook and a beat and basically say nothing except making up words. He ruined the genre.... or is a pioneer depending on how you look at it.

Rap doesnt make good money plain and simple. Bills got to be paid and the kinda stuff Drake makes pays the bills.
