No, he has immediate eligibility and would solve the QB position for both 2012 and 2013. Doesn't matter anyways, he chose Wisconsin:

Quote:
Wisconsin has added another coveted quarterback transfer, as Danny O'Brien will suit up for the Badgers.

The team on Tuesday announced the signing of O'Brien after the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported his arrival. Because O'Brien graduated from Maryland in three years, he will have two seasons of eligibility at Wisconsin and can play right away.

Sucks. He would have instantly ended our half-hearted QB competition.

Pretty much.

Time to hold out hope on Paul Jones. Otherwise we're doomed to have "transitional" season with next to nothing new at the QB position. Not to say Jones would save the program's QB woes from day 1, but it would -- at the very least -- give us some new found optimism for 2012.

So, DOB is on campus for 2 days, sees practice, and then immediately commits to Wisconsin afterwards, despite having set a mid April timeline.

Either we royally screwed up somehow, or our QB's are better than we previously anticipated

Paul Jones (for heisman) is supposed to finish with around a GPA of a mid 3 for the semester ATM (Not cumulative, unless he sudden becomes Nikola Tesla) FWIW.

I'd say the former.

At least we look to have good QB prospects for the future.

I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment personally. With Jay as our coach and Galen running the offense, going to Matt Canada would've been a rather obvious choice

Now we have Charlie Fisher taking advantage of our QB's talents. Sometimes you just need a clean slate to be better

Less crowded a situation in Wisconsin. The depth may have been what did us in on DOB. He and Bill reportedly had a nice connection, so it's a little surprising. For just under week now I've thought we were sure to land him.

That's a good point, I was that he would come here too

On a sidenote, yes, I've done a near 180 on Jay Paterno. I still don't dislike him, though I do think I might've overestimated his skills

DOB will play right away basically guaranteed there. Would've had to fight for his spot here. Thats what decided it IMO.

Ryan Switzer's coach has successfully steered him away from Penn State. Pathetic.
Ryan was ready to commit back in February after a Junior Day visit once he brought his mom to campus but his coach said no and told him to "take his time."
So now, after one visit to UNC, his coach rushes to the press and tells them that Switzer is committing to UNC the night before Ryan's announcement, when he originally had a visit scheduled this weekend with his parents and was set to commit?
Recruiting is a slimy game, but his coach hasn't done a very good job of at least trying to act like he has Ryan's best interests at heart. From the get-go he tried to keep Ryan away from PSU.

It's really reading way too much into things, but is anyone slightly discouraged that Gress has been seeing the most 1st tea reps and not Smith @ LT?

I think this was more like PSU's junior day, where nobody committed, but a lot of interest was gained

Greg Webb seemed to love his visit enough that a commitment may be soon.
