I have a Dual Shock 4, it used to charge no problems at all but now it won't charge. I tried pressing the the reset botton that didn't work.

I actually have 2 controllers with this same problem.

When I used to charge it the orangish light would appear, but now the blue light flashes a few times than disappears.

Have you tried a different charger?

Otherwise contact Sony support or see if you have a warranty from purchase.

Two controllers with the same problem sounds odd. I'm thinking it's not really the controllers but either a bad cable OR the ps4 itself. Try charging them with a cell phone charger (using a different cord as well), see if that works. That will help tell us what's actually causing the problem.

I tried different cables and didn't make a difference though.

Do you guys think it could just be replacing the battery?

Did you do what the post above you recommended and use a wall charger instead of the PS4?

Which way? The wall charger or the PS4? The point of the recommendation was to rule out the charging source as the problem. So if you have only used a wall charger, then use the PS4. If you have only used the PS4, then try the wall charger. Then you'll know it's a problem with the controller and not the charging source.

^yeah, try the wall charger. if it cannot charge that way then there is a problem with the controller. if it can charge via the wall charger then that means the controller and cables are fine and there may be a problem with your console.

Sounds like it's the usb port on the controller or the console. Try canned-airing out the usb ports in case there is something preventing a solid connection like lint or dust or something.
A way to test your cable is plug it (while connected to your controller) into the usb port on your computer and see if your computer recognizes it and tries to install a driver for it.
It would be strange if both usb ports no longer worked on the console, but it could happen. If it is the usb ports on the console, you are kinda screwed and would have to send it in and they'll try to fix it or replace it if they can't fix it (assuming it's still under the 1 year manufacturer warranty).
You should also be careful when you plug in those micro usb chargers into the port on your controller. PS4 Micro-usb's are pretty flimsy compared to the normal usb's used on the ps3 controller. When I worked at Sprint people would break their charging ports on their phones a lot because they just jam the charger in there.

if there is dust or some type of debris inside his usb port for the ps4, wouldn't an air can blow the dust deeper inside?

Not really. Most of it will fly out. There isn't much gap surrounding the charging prongs for stuff to go farther in.

I had a similar situation and the usb port on the controller ended up being the cause.I ended up buying this charging station that charges from the bottom and it's been charging just fine since.
