Projected Line-up

C- Brian McCann
1B- Mark Teixera
2B- Brian Roberts
3B- Kelly Johnson
SS- Derek Jeter
LF- Brett Gardner
CF- Jacoby Ellsbury
RF- Carlos Beltron
DH- Alfonso Soriano

Rotation
SP- CC Sabathia
SP- Hiroki Kuroda
SP- Ivan Nova
SP- Masahiro Tanaka
SP- Michael Pineda

Pineda looked beastly today, 9 scoreless innings this spring training.

I feel that with this rotation, we will be in it to the end. If Jet and Teix can stay healthy the line-up will be just fine.

I expect #28. Nothing less is acceptable for the Captain's final year. This is going to be a season for the ages. I can just see it now. Jeter is gonna be brilliant.

Pineda has me so excited. His slider is absolutely nasty and if he can get even to sitting in 92-93.... oh boy...

Yep, I'm also really excited for Pineda. Showing a lot of the awesome potential in spring training that he showed when he was in Seattle. If he can live up to what he was and build off that, our rotation should be incredible. Tanaka is also being lauded for adjusting well (granted, it is spring training). I have faith in D-Rob to do the job as closer.

Offense looks solid on paper, but a lot of guys that are older and/or injury prone. So it could also be something that can blow up in our face. Hopefully, we get lucky on that front.

Amazing how a team as bad as the Yankees at developing young starting pitching might've just lucked into a trio of 25 year old stud starting pitchers.

Wouldn't say we lucked into Pineda, we had to give up a guy who was generally regarded as a top 5 prospect to get him.

I also wouldn't call the other #5 hopefuls studs either.

Not to get you guys too excited, but the Yankees have a lot of SS talent dwelling in the lower minors, and the best may not even have come to the states yet. His name is Jorge Mateo, and he tore up the DSL last year. Yes, DSL stats don't matter much, but his tools are supposedly incredible. Here's what Ben Badler had to say about him, via RAB:

Quote:
“He’s a premium athlete who should be able to stay at shortstop, where he shows very good range, quick feet and a plus arm … He should have good power for a shortstop, with 15-20 home runs a very realistic possibility. Mateo uses the whole field and did a solid job of managing the strike-zone in his debut, though he will have to make adjustments as he moves up the ladder and starts to see better breaking pitches,” wrote Badler while noting Mateo is an 80 runner on the 20-80 scouting scale. The right-handed hitter figures to come stateside and play in the Rookie Gulf Coast League this summer.

Cant wait for opening day.

I am very excited to see what Pineda does this season. He has been lighs out so far this spring. Hopefully he can carry it over.

This is the Captains final season. We better do something special.

What do you guys think they'll do with Nuno, Phelps and Warren?

Phelps/Warren in the pen, Nuno to minors?

Anyone else worried about CC? Fastball topping out at 91. They said he's been adjusting but still...
