Just a little question, just wondering what you guys think about Gerardo Torrado being called up to the national squad time and time again, knowing his best days are WAY behind him. He's just coming back from injury hasn't played for cruz azul but is fit enought for Mexico? Something weird going on there. I hope he doesn't start these two matches. |
Honestly, I've never liked him. If him and Salcido start in the midfield I might throw something at my TV. _________________

Add Ochoa to the mix and I agree with you. I can't stand Torrado and Ochoa being played again and again. They both suck. _________________

I'm fine with either of them. Ochoa has 3 shutouts in 4 games with a horrible team in France. Chepo prefers Corona and I'm fine with that. _________________

Ochoa always makes mistakes against long shots. He always makes mistakes, I really can't stand the guy playing with the National Team. _________________

It pisses me off everytime he passes the ball it's always back to a defender, Torrado is a joke! _________________

Im sorry but i strongly disagree with you, Ochoa is the best keeper Mexico has had in a long time. People just go with what they hear from the "experts". He took over at America at just 17 years old after an injury to Adolfo Rios and never looked back. There's a reason Rios couldn't win his spot back. He makes mistakes? What goal keeper doesn't? He's miles ahead of Corona. Wish him luck this season so that a bigger team will come to his rescue. _________________

I don't know about miles ahead of Corona. Corona hardly ever has blunders. Sure, Ochoa can dive better, but when Corona is keeper I feel safe. _________________

I use to like Ochoa a lot, ( Hoping my father never hears this cause he would kill me for liking an America player) but he just doesn't seem to have improved on holding onto potent shots. And he doesn't parry shots properly, just kind of lets them go anywhere which results in rebound goals. All in all he does everything well but has a major issue with gauging and handling shots from a distance.
As for Torrado? He is awful. He tries to play like a destroyer, but always seems to get carded for the most trivial challanges and as noted he can't pass foward to save his life.
With Herrera, Chaton, Molina, and Zavala available I don't understand how Torrado can possibly make the team. I understand they want leadership, but damn Concacaf should be a walk in the park and a time for the youngsters to take over before the WC.

It's Monica Gonzalez, former player for the Mexican national team.
I think she works for ESPN now. _________________
