The fact that you're at home and we literally don't have a striker means its going to be pretty hard for us to win. Tough first game for us. _________________

Is Defoe playing? He's decent
After you guys trounced us at WHL last season I would love to see our boys put a few past Spurs. _________________

Chelsea had a few good moments, especially in the first half but I didn't think either side was anywhere near their best today.
We played far too many long balls to Cisse and Ba which Chelsea's defenders were more than happy to clean up. Also, we played very narrow today I thought, but that's got to be expected when for most of the game our LB and LM were Santon and Jonas who are both right footers and our RM Ben Arfa is left-footed and only uses his right foot for balance. Would have liked to seen more wide play, hopefully Marv and/or Obertan get a chance in the next few games to play in those wider roles.
Tiote was missed in the middle of the park, his physicality couldn't be replaced by Anita or Cabaye. The latter of those two has kind of been out of sorts to start the season, obviously playing deep doesn't play to his strengths but his delivery from set pieces have been very poor to start the season, not just today but against Spurs too.
For me our biggest question right now is can Cisse and Ba work together effectively as a duo up front? I think the early signs this season when we've played a 4-4-2 suggest that they can't. _________________

Players brought in:
Romain Amalfitano - Free
Curtis Good - £0.4M
Gael Bigirimana - £1M
Vurnon Anita - £6.6M
That's just not enough investment to challenge for a top 5 finish this season. _________________

We suck, good thing Pards has got 8 years to sort it out.
Few Things:
We've been crap in the final third this season. Pardiola needs to stop playing the 4-4-2 all together because it doesn't benefit any of our players. A 4-3-3 would be so much better with EITHER Cisse or Ba as ST, preferably Demba Ba who is clearly the better of the two. Wouldn't mind seeing Obertan or Sammy playing as a winger opposite to HBA because we need another guy that is comfortable with ball at feet, who can run at defenders and get crosses in.
Mid-fielder wise, we need to play Cabaye in a more advanced role with two holding midfielders. I like what I have seen from Bigi, so he and Tiote would be my ideal duo for protecting the back four which allows Yohan more freedom.
Why on earth did we buy Anita? Looks like he was bought for the sake of buying someone. He gets pushed off the ball far too often and doesn't offer much in the ball playing department.
Why is Davide Santon STILL favored as a LB!???? It is so freaking stupid, he doesn't ever use his left foot ever and I'm pretty sure every RB in the PL has figured it out too. He'll get to around the 18 yard box then we'd hit a brick wall in attack because he refuses to use his left foot and has to lay it off with his right inside. Usually it is Jonas playing in front of him... again another right footer on the left, at least he sometimes gets to the byline and gets a few crosses in but it's still so dumb. _________________

Alan Pardew's 8-year contract doesn't sound a very smart idea looking back.
I had Newcastle in my works last man standing competition too. _________________

I remember reading something where they can get out of it pretty easily for the first few years.
Edit: found it not the best source but I read that some where else I think the BBC or Guardian. Apparently they only have to pay one year's salary if they dismiss him. _________________
