Question.
Why is Palermo in Europa if Juve came in 7th?
Noob question, I know, helping a friend with some research. _________________

They lost to Inter in the Coppa Italia. The Coppa Italia has the same rules as the FA Cup. The winner (or loser if the winner is in CL), gets the last Europa spot. _________________

So only 5th and 6th get qualifying auto rights? Then those who make the Inter Coppa?
Just triple checking. _________________

That really depends. Normally the 5th, 6th and 7th placed team gets to go to the Europa League. Although this changes depending on who wins the Coppa Italia.
The winner gets an auto spot to the Europa League. So if a team 8th or below wins it, then they get the spot over the 7th placed team.
However, if the winner is in the top 4, they are already in the CL, so instead the spot goes to the losing side. If the loser is in the top 4, then the Coppa allocation is pointless and it stays with the 7th placed team. If the loser is in 5th to 7th, than once again it is useless because they are already in EL. However, if the loser from 8th below, the losing side would get the spot over the 7th placed team...
It should be noted though that next year, Italy only has 3 CL spots and 3 EL spots so finishing 7th won't get you in EL no matter what. _________________

Napoli could be contenders this year, they have a pretty solid squad and have been splashing the cash. _________________

Knew I was missing a team. They finished 3rd too. -_-" There is a top 7 this year in the Serie A especially with Udinese losing their key players. _________________

Here is my thread
As a proud fan of AC Milan, and a fan who hates everything to do with Inter and Juve, I will be happy to watch the Rossoneri become back to back scudetto winners! _________________
