I'm roughly 150 pages into the second book.
Davos chapter, he was thinking about Thoros, and his flaming sword, but he mentions that Thoros lost the melee, and being "brained" (assuming killed).
Yet in the first book, I am fairly certain that Thoros won the melee, and not only that, but is one of the parties fighting against the Lannisters.
Have I made a mistake somewhere, or the author, or is it just Davos having a 'wrong' point of view? Curious. |
I just checked that out, and as I recall Thoros won the melee at the hands tourney, but Davos thinks back to Joffrey's name day tourney. And I guess he was wearing a helmet therefore the mace didn't kill him. Thoros, Lord Beric Dondarrion and ~100 other men was sent from Ned to execute or bring Gregor to Kings Landing to kill him. And I'm pretty sure that was after Joffrey's name day tourney.
They casted an actor who looks a lot like Vargo Hoat, but changed his name to "Locke" which some might remember from aDwD, and it's a northern name. |
No, Ned Stark issued that order when he was still alive and Hand, it was one of the final things he did IIRC, so it happened well before Joff's name day. |
Luckily you have "Name Day" each year
Joffrey's name day was before Jon Arryn died, because Stannis left after or before that even. _________________

Yeah, I was referring to his Name Day tournament, the one where that drunk knight stumbles out and stuff.
But it does appear that Davos is referencing another tournament. Thanks guys. _________________

and it was crazy how much I missed Jon, Tryion, Stannis, Davos, and Dany. It was a mistake to divide it like that.
Luckily, the show will avoid the same fault. _________________

GRRM even came out and admitted that was a mistake, and it won't be happening again. _________________

I am still wondering if Martin is going to acknowledge that Jon is Lyanna's son or not. _________________

We will learn who Jon's parents is. I think GRRM said that.
It's been confirmed RW will be in season 3, episode 9, and they will include the two "switching" heads. I'm going to feel sick watching it. _________________

I didn't think they switched heads, but that Grey Wind's was on Robb and Robb's on a spike? I could be wrong though. I can't wait to read the show watchers thread after that though. _________________

I think your right.
I knew Robb would die, but when they sew GW's head on Robb's body I felt sick. _________________

He won't until the books do.
So basically we are just waiting for Howland Reed to make an appearance. _________________

Knowing Martin it was probably his original plan but now that fan's kind of see it coming. I think he is looking for a way to throw another loop in there just to spite our hopes. _________________

The internet fans see it, I'm no so sure as many of the offline fans are as aware. I hope he sticks to it. _________________

I read some interview with GRRM where he said he wouldn't change his ending if people guessed it, because he hates when authors do that. _________________
