| since hasselbeck has resigned and all the other qb's in fa are no long term solution, would you guys (as packers fans) be happy if the packers gave up their first round pick for phillip Rivers? If the packers were to draft a qb, they would want to go after aaron rodgers or alex smith and would have to pay a hefty price. Rivers was the fourth overall pick and he already has one year of experience. If Favre decides to stay, then he can mentor Rivers for one more year and if he retires, then the packers won't have to play a rookie or end up with someone like jeff garcia or kurt warner. |

I would be interested in that. I said from the beginning that Rivers could possibly be the best QB in the draft last year. I know I was wrong, as Roethlisberger shows that he will be a frickin stud, but I think Rivers has a bright NFL future. _________________

| First I don’t think the Packers 1st round pick will be enough to bring Rivers from San Diego. Marty S. really likes him and probably prefer to trade Brees then Rivers. Rivers would be a steal because he was the 3rd pick last year and the Packers will be giving up a late 1st rounder, highly unlikely. But I think the Packers are better off with Brees taking over for Farve. Even then, I think the Chargers may look for a 1st round between pick 14-20. |

| I think the very opposite I would not give up a first for Rivers he is unproven and is not worth a first IMO. |

There is no way in hell I would want Rivers. Jesus, why is it that people can't realize that QB's are mostly busts in the NFL. The good ones end up being the players few gave any chance - not all the time, mind you.
Now, why is it that no one likes Nall? I mean the guy makes things happen. Sure, he seems like a gambler at times, but I like that. The few games I've seen him play, he seems awfully impressive. I say build a dominant defense and ride Favre as long as you can. I believe the Pack isn't far off from being a contender.
We need a great safety and great defensive end and I think we're golden. I also think our receivers really aren't that great. They seem like they have trouble getting open at crucial times. With the running game The Pack has, this should never happen. Jesus, look what Freeman and Brooks were capable of.
Also, since Chumura left, I noticed a dropoff in the passing game. I think Favre is unstoppable when he's got a chewy-type of tight end.
GREEN BAY PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM QB'S!!! |

| Personally, I would be interested in Rivers, but I don't think our #1 this year would be enough. Plus, because he was such a high draft pick, he has a big contract, and the Packers don't have much wiggle room under the cap. For those reasons, I don't think it will happen. |

Why do you say our recievers aren't very good? Walker was either 2nd or 3rd in the league for recieving yards, and him and Driver were the best duo in the NFL. Plus, Ferguson is pretty good. _________________

| I agree with hauschild. Use the 1st round pick on a Safety, Linebacker or Definsive Linemen |

Actually, Green Bay's receivers aren't that bad. However, something has been missing since Holmgren left and I can't put my finger on it. What really irriates me is the fact that our running game is night and day better than in 1996, yet I feel like certain teams can shut our offense down at will.
Again, I don't know if it is the scheme or players. You can't honestly tell me that Brooks and Freeman were faster than Walker and Driver, yet they seemed to possess the ability to get open at crucial times. And, that was without Green in the backfield.
I'm just frustrated that Sherman pissed away a golden opportunity to seal Favre's fate as the greatest QB of all time. How in the world are you not able to get in marquee free agents with Favre as the QB? It actually makes me sick to my stomach as I think what lies ahead for us Packer fans. Can anyone say 1980's??? |

| The mid season pickup of Rison (WR) along with the 1 year free agent signing of Howard (PR/KR) and Jackson (TE) is what put the Packers over the hump in 96. |

| I think Hauschild is exactly right about Nall. He was a star in Europe, and has shown potential. |

| holy crap/....hauschild and I agree on something, and it's the QB's. You can take an Orton in the 3rd, but don't waste a pick on Rivers unless Favre hangs them up and Nall falls down a flight of stairs (ala Brian Griese) and breaks something. |

Chumura 'left' - lol.
More like he was carried out.
I too agree that trading for Rivers would be a bad idea. The QB position is too unpredictable (although sooner or later we'll have to draft someone as I like Nall but he seems more like a bridge than an island). Defense MUST be a first priority - let's give Bates something to work with (other than Barnett, KGB and maybe Harris). |
