Quote:
Fox has won the bidding war for a new TV drama series set in the Batman universe.

Gotham, from The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller and Warner Bros TV, will follow Commissioner Jim Gordon and the villains that terrorise the city, according to Deadline.

In Chris Nolan's recent Batman film trilogy, Gary Oldman took the role of Gordon, winning considerable acclaim in the process.

He’s unlikely to reprise his portrayal of the character, as Gotham is focusing on the popular Detective Comics characters’ origin stories in the new series.

Though the character is popularly referred to as Commissioner Jim Gordon, the younger James is likely to still be a detective in the Gotham City Police Department in the series.

This could be really really good or really really bad.

Im a big fan of Jim Gordon, so I hope they do him justice.

It's basically just a cop show that may have the occasional minor Batman villain in it that is using the brand name to hopefully gin up some interest.

This is becoming to much. They are mass producing this stuff now and causing it to lose appeal IMO.

Major networks never has the right feel for these shows. They look campy and low budget.

As a Batman guy going back to my 80's roots in comics, I can't get excited for this. It's just too much anymore.

Comic book adaptations are getting mass produced like Zombie/Vampire movies.

Less is more. We don't need a TV series with constant pushing of films already dedicated to this genre IMO.

Thats what is hot right now.

Its all about the green.

Arrow is great.

Flash has nice potential.

Agents of SHIELD is decent.

And Batman has huge appeal.

And while there are movies for some of these characters, they are different adapatations of them.

I dont know how this will turn out, but its silly to write it off before we even know what the direction of the show will be.

This show has just as good of a chance of being good as any other new show.

If batman isn't even in it I really don't see the point in watching it. It's just like another cop drama then...
