Couple observations from the loss:
Our wingers were awful. Shea didn't get much service, and Williams didn't stay wide or possess the ball. His passing was terrible.
Jozy played a fantastic hold up game. Too bad him and Dempsey were the only people who bothered attacking.
We miss Landon. Too often we had to rely on Dempsey trying to create from 30 yards out with no wing support, meaning we don't have our best goal poacher in the box and the ball inevitably gets passed backward and the attack stalls.
Beckerman wasn't half bad, and while Jermaine Jones showed he should probably be starting over him, he can play at this level.
Edu cannot play the #8. He does it okay at Rangers, but he looked like Ricardo Clark out there today. Gotta get Bradley in there.
Goodson won't be taking Gooch's job anytime soon, but he was serviceable.
Ideal Lineup for Slovenia (assuming no Gooch)
-------------------Howard--------------------
----------Goodson---------Bocanegra------
Cherundolo-------------------------Chandler
-------------------Jones-----------------------
-------------------Bradley--------------------
Johnson---------------------------------Shea
-------------------------Dempsey------------
-----------------Jozy--------------------------
Playing Bradley and Jones in a double pivot maybe, since both are capable of getting forward. _________________

| Jermaine, Jozy, and Boca were our best today, in my opinion. |

My patience is wearing thin with the zero attack this team has. Tuesday all I want to see is at least one goal. I don't care if we lose I just want to see a goal. _________________ NFL - Packers

iDont think theres enough attack when we have a center midfiled of edu-beckerman. imo we should try fabian johnson in the middle, or at least bradley, maybe williams, who like i said before looks more like a CM than a winger
dont get why he wont play bradley _________________

Jozy got screwed twice. Once on the amazing move in the box that should have ended in a penalty and again when they took him down on his run. Seems like we are always so unbelievably unlucky when it comes to fairly called games with the refs. _________________

Poor Jozy is actually developing into a quality striker but unfortunately the way our team is set-up right now, he's not getting the chance to get touches in dangerous areas. _________________

I think we miss Torres more than we care to admit. There is zero creativity in the middle with Jones/Beckerman/Edu. We need him and Bradley playing the double pivot in the center. _________________

Also, at the minimum this is part 3, may be part 4. _________________

i think its pretty obvious that we miss torres alot, kinda disappointed in how JK hasnt even tried to replace his creativity, or at least change the formation, edu is clearly not the answer _________________

This is actually #3. The last one was the second. _________________

Completely agree. This team would be so much better with Torres playing. _________________

Jozy was outstanding. We only even bothered to act like we were attacking occasionally when we were down, but he was working at a top rate quality all night. Good, creative touches that no one else could take advantage of, and solid hold up play as well. Dempsey came alive at the end but otherwise didn't link up well... we showed little courage till the last 15 minutes. I know it's a work in progress, but Klinsmann needs to inspire them just a little more. And yes, I understand it was France. We lost anyways. Might as well have shown some spunk before the 75th minute. _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

Perhaps the USSF should start encouraging alot of our mid-tier players to try to find clubs in the Eredivisie. Maybe they can learn some creativity. _________________

The U-23's took on 2.B's Bochum (lost in the relegation playoff last season against Gladbach) and won 3-1. Here are the highlights and reactions.
The starters;
| Quote: | U-23 #USMNT lineup v Bochum:
Johnson;
Williams, White, Fennell, Valentin;
Corona, Okugo, Diskerud, Garza;
Boyd, Agudelo |
Apparently closer to a 4-4-2 diamond than anything, with Mix (he has the #10 shirt) in a more advanced role and Okugo hanging back to do some of the dirty work. |
