I have recieved word via email (on an account that I rarely check, if only I had checked that account much sooner) that we have lost a GREAT MEMBER of our Footballs Future family and a former CO MOD of the Dallas Cowboys Forum. Brian Barfield (S.A.Cowboyfan) passed away on Aug. 7th 2011.
I am still trying to find out more details of what happened and I have invited a member of Brian's family to join us here.
If we can have one of our artist's create an Avi for us in honor of SA, it would be much appreciated!
R.I.P. SA and may God bless and watch over your family in these hard times! _________________ "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyways" - John Wayne

What the heck happened? If true, my condolences to SA and his family. He was a great guy, and someone who had a tremendous amount of integrity.
May he RIP. _________________

Wow. I won't lie... This hurts. We joke around sometimes whether e-friends are real friends. There are certain people on this forum that I consider real friends even though we might not ever meet in person and live in completely different cities, etc. Brian was one of those. He won the forum MVP 3 years in a row and really set the standard for all posters in the forum. He was funny, knowledgeable, articulate, and well respected throughout. I miss ya Bud. |

SA was the man in the forums when I joined. He was the poster you wanted to be like and every time he made a post I would read it to see what he had to say. I can't believe something like this has happened again. We have had 3 members die over the last 3 years now. We have lost another great one. RIP B2tB, T14, and now SA. Terrible news to wake up to _________________

Holy Christ. I don't even know what to say. Great poster, great man, great friend.
RIP. You, T14, and B2TB can all watch the games together from a spot with the best views imaginable. _________________

RIP S.A.CowboyFan you will be missed. And my condolences to his family. Wow, it's quite shocking that just a few months ago he was posting, and now this terrible news. _________________

I did not know him as well as many of you did, but it is a sad day when we, on the forum, lose one of our own. I will keep him and his family in my prayers and if there is anyone who knows how to contact them, let them know if there is anything they need, please do not hesitate to ask. |

I was trying to think of a post that was just classic SA and I thought of this one...

They're a hockey team, my friend, who just so happen to be coached by Wayne Gretzky. You may have heard of him before.
And welcome Xul. Good to have another hockey fan amongst the group even if the mod has no clue what that sport is. |
LOL, I have in fact heard of Wayne Gretzky. I really don't know much about hockey at all, pretty much just that it is played on ice and there are alot of fights. I went to a hockey game once here in San Antonio. I believe the team was named Rampage from some kind of minor league.
I quickly figured out that hockey was not the sport for me though. I could never figure out who the quarterback was, especially since everyone kept hitting the puck around. If you think the refs are bad in football, they don't have anything on those refs for hockey. I saw several forward laterals past the line of scrimage and not one of them was called a penalty.
I suppose I should cut them a bit of slack since the lines were blue and red as opposed to the traditional yellow you see on TV. The real culprit was the technician in charge of keeping up with it, they never moved the lines once. The refs must have gotten pretty fed up with it too since they called the game after the third quarter. |

Wow, I don't know what to say. Like Slam said, Brian was someone I considered a real friend. He and I used to exchange emails on a regular basis. We exchanged advice about guns, jobs and relationships. He was someone that was always there to talk to when you needed him, and not just about football. When he tried to start his own website, I was a Mod on one of the sections. I probably spent more time talking with Brian outside of this site than I have any other member. S.A. was a genuinely good guy and this forum will never be the same without him.
I am really curious as to what happened with him. I know he had started a new job a little while back and didn't have time to post on here much anymore. I had noticed that he hadn't posted in a long time. In fact I still have a PM in my outbox that I tried to send to him a couple months ago. I was wondering what was going on with him. I just assumed he was busy with work. I feel horrible for not trying harder to find out what was going on.
When I get to work on Monday, I will update my sig and avatar to reflect his passing. I can't do that from my phone. _________________
