Clemons is coming off two years in a row in which he recorded career high 11 sacks for the Seahawks.

The 30-year old is set to make $4.5 million in 2012.

Scares me a bit to see the numbers, but am glad we got him inked.

No doubt this signing will be overshadowed my Ichiro's trade today in Seattle though...

so glad this got done, this NEEDED to happen. Now lynch's decision is the last remaining distraction going into TC.

If irvin pans out, this pass rush is set for years.

Glad we got this done without further hold out. Clemons is perhaps the most valuable player on our defense as it stands now and a long term deal only ensures that we keep at least one great pass rushing presence on the team. He'll be great in the Brock role in a year or 2.

Chris Clemons - DL - Seahawks

Seahawks agreed to terms with RE Chris Clemons on a three-year extension.
The report comes via ESPN.com's Mike Sando. Clemons was set to earn $4 million in the final season of a five-year deal, but was reportedly in line for a $1 million pay reduction after skipping the Seahawks' mandatory minicamp. A full-time starter for the first time in his career after arriving in Seattle in 2010, Clemons has led the Seahawks in sacks each of the past two seasons, tallying 11 each year. No other Seahawk notched more than four sacks in 2011.

Wow, 3 years is PERFECT! Even if we gave him as much as 7.5 Million a year, I don't care. The three years is the biggest part of this for me. I don't like paying 30 year old guys for 5 years.

I wonder how much he got?

Don't forget that we also signed Jason Jones in the offseason. If he pans out, we'll finally get the inside pass rush that we have lacked for so long.

If we have Clemons at the LEO, move Irvin around and play him some at SS on passing downs and have Jones at DT, there's gonna be a lot of scared QB's in our division. Personally, I'm expecting big things from Cordarro Law as well. If he fills the role vacated by Raheem Brock, it'll be even better.

I don't. At least not the part about Irvin at SS... Laughing

I like the signing. Wish we had still punished him for holding out however.

I think he means strong side, as in LDE...that or SSLB, I'm guessing SSLB due to the Law comment.

It will be interesting if the FO waived that $1 million dock.

This is what happens when I try to post at almost 1:00 a.m. with very little sleep and no proofreading. I meant having Irvin at SLB, but for some reason, I typed SS. It was a pure brain fart! My bad! I made a mistake. I'm sure it'll happen again. Embarassed
