He's got good size and was a beast for Temple. He does have good cut back ability but he isnt a burner that will outrun everyone in the open field. He's shown an ability to be the workhorse back, but does have a fair bit of tread on his tires.
Here's some film of him for those that aren't too familiar with him:
Vs Army
Vs Ohio
Vs Wyoming
Vs Maryland
He'll be a good player, but I'm not sure this is the direction I would have gone in the 3rd round _________________

I could imagine he could play special teams as a true special teammer, but I'm not sure he has any true return skills. _________________

Nonsense, we already have starters playing ST for us. _________________

If you think that, you weren't here last year during the draft.
I was ecstatic about picking Jimmy, Torrey and Tyrod. Even Anthony Allen I thought was a good pick for us (and at the time I was wondering who Pernell McPhee was, but now I love him).
This year is just the complete opposite. Sorry that I am in the minority and don't agree with our picks thus far. _________________

I respectfully disagree, my friend. Pierce runs a nearly identical 40 to Ray Rice (high 4.4 speed). Pierce has a penchant for finding the end zone as well. He was my sleeper RB (along with Turbin from Utah State).
Pierce had the 3rd best RB Spped Score in the draft behind Lamar Miller and Robert Turbin (Miller - 113.124. Turbin - 108.276. Pierce - 107.276). Not only does he back up Rice, but he could effectively replace him in the running game should Ray go down (Heaven's forbid). Great runner who can hit the home run but definitely needs to improve his knee bend, pass blocking and receiving ability.
For all of the naysayers, all 3 of the Ravens picks are GREAT values where they were selected. I am ecstatic thus far. Outstanding infusion of youthful talent. |

Sigh.....so does every other team in the NFL. Move on from this. |

Yeah it's hard to tell if he can be a returner or not. I would assume he can play on the coverage teams but I don't think it's necessary either. The Ravens primary backup RB hasn't done that in a long time if I remember correctly. |

I actually had a gut feeling today that we might pick a running back in the late second or third round. There was no value at WR and in our offense, the backup running back probably has more of an impact and opportunity for production than a number 3 wr.
I hadn't looked much at Pierce before but I like the way he runs in the youtube highlights. He has good lateral speed in his cuts, but he does not dance around.
People should know better than to expect us to hand the backup job to Anthony Allen. If we're not doing it for former second rounder Paul Kruger who actually had some production last year... I like the competition and the fact that the young guys have to earn their way to the field. |

You know there's cynical and then there's pessimistic, but you my friend are down right hysterical. I feel like we should put you on suicide watch. _________________

Lol, I just love making jokes about my own team because I know my passion for them so making jokes about them doesn't really effect me.
However, in all seriousness I'm pretty sure I do have bipolar disorder ORRR a minor case of depression IRL. _________________
