Yes, and fantastic live. I saw them open for Slayer a few years ago, and IMO they were the stars of the show. They played for just over an hour, and got nearly two full albums in. Slayer played for 1.5 hrs and maybe got 10 songs in, and most were from newer albums I don't care anything for.
If you haven't heard Mastodon's new one, The Hunter, it's probably just behind Leviathan IMO. Great album. _________________

Also, Mastodon is some pretty funny guys. Go to youtube and check out some of the stuff on there, namely their intro the the ATHF movie "Cut You up with a Linoleum Knife." I'd put a link, but it's not appropriate for forum rules.
Also, they have a documentary out there on DVD, that is absolutely hilarious and awesome at the same time. These guys were essentially homeless until Leviathan came out, living out of their van. _________________

I'm waiting for The Agonists's 3rd album to come out in early 2012. _________________

I bet you've been to a lot of great punk and ska shows too....no one ever comes to my city . Best I could see was The Offspring and Dropkick Murphys and local shows. Although my friend (a promoter and booking guy) just booked The Queers and The Ataris. Not really punk, but they're names. _________________

One question I've wondered about for some time: if someone turned on some heavy metal for you and you didn't know which band it was, how would you know whether to classify it as thrash metal, black metal, death metal, metalcore, nu metal, hardcore, hardcore punk, regular punk, grunge, grindcore, industrial metal, or post-metal? I am sure the terms overlap, but it seems like it would be very tough to assign bands to certain categories. If you had to differentiate between them, how would you do so? _________________

Thanks for that. Black metal, death metal, grindcore, industrial metal and hardcore seem very similar to me given those links. _________________
