Seems like he just wants his name in the paper. I thought he retired years ago. _________________

He was holding out for a starting job after getting released from the vikings. He's officially retiring now though. _________________

Had some great years. Cool idea to retire when Reid is here. _________________

How anyone could react vitriolic towards McNabb is beyond me.
He wasn't supposed to be Joe Montana.
He wasn't even supposed to be a QB.
But, he fared well.
He wasn't perfect, but he led his team to five NFC Championship games.
You could blame him for all four losses ... or zero.
You can chose to remember him for his last two years in Philly ... or his first 10.
Yes, he lost a Super Bowl.
But, did he lose it?
Or was it a team effort?
I don't want to split hairs here, but McNabb was a good QB for many, many years.
Name three better ones in Eagles' history.
OK, name two.
He was what he was and should be appreciated for that. |

I'm fully convinced Andy was more at fault for the losses than McNabb in all honesty. Andy is good at developing QB's but that's about it. _________________

Good to see him go as an Eagle, and his number will probably be retired. _________________

Organizational failures with regard to:
1. Getting viable receivers
2. Utilizing RBs better
3. Building a physical and talented roster.
Reid had a lot to do with all of that.
(Yes I know there were more than those 3). _________________

Yeah, sums it up pretty well. He almost never drafted based off potential so we didn't have any really. _________________

It is good to know he will be retiring an Eagle. I know McNabb gets tons of criticism for never bring the Lombardi trophy back to Philly, but he did so much to make the Eagles into a national powerhouse. We just witnessed the greatest era of football ever seen in the city of Philadelphia, and we should all tip our caps to the greatest QB in the history of our franchise (I said it).
Did he have his flaws? Absolutely. I can't describe how angry I would get every time Donovan threw the ball at the feet of his WR's, and how he performed in the Super Bowl was a major disappointment. All that being said, he knew how to lead a team, and he was always entertaining...
In the end, I will remember McNabb for what he accomplished, not what he didn't. _________________
