I was looking into to getting one of these headsets and I checked them out at best buy today. I noticed on the box it says "engineered for Xbox 360, also works with ps3". Does anyone on here use one of these on ps3? _________________

Yes. There are certain lower-end models that are made specifically for PS3 or specifically for Xbox, but most work on both.
I'm on PS3, I started out with a P11. It was pretty good, mic cable got messed up after about 6 months, so I upgraded to a DPX21. Its amazing, probably the best quality you'll get for $100. _________________

| My brother has a simple pair of Turtle Beach Earforce P11's he uses on the PS3. It may be their most basic headset, but it has great sound and clarity. Even when I play with him he is usually one of the more clear players in the lobby. I think these ones were designed specifically for the PS3 though, but if it works with the PS3 also, I wouldn't hesitate. Turtle Beach are one of the more reliable brands on the market. I prefer Astro's, but that is neither here nor there. |

Astros have the best sound quality, but price is the issue. If you're looking to spend $200+, astros are the way to go. _________________

Turtle Beaches break easily.
Wouldn't recommend them. _________________

I've had my x11's for over a year. They still work like the day I got them. _________________

Everyone I've known who has had turtle beaches has had them break.
Some treated them with care and others rougher. Didn't matter. They make them out of cheap materials. _________________

I had my original Beaches for like 2 years before I upgraded. Those were like the X1's I think. Taking care of the stuff you buy goes a long way.
I would recommend most people to start out with a basic pair of Turtle Beaches just to see if a headset is something you will actually regularly use. _________________

I'm a PS3 user and I have the Turtle Beach P11s, had them about a year. The sound bugs out occasionally but other than that they're solid. My friend just bought a pair as well, because I recommended them. _________________

Turtle Beaches are terrible. I have them only because they're what I can afford. The x12s are decent, what I have, but the padding compresses pretty easily so it get's uncomfortable.
If money is no object, as some mentioned, Astro's are the way to go. The new A40s are amazing
Here's a price chart for you:
<100 - Turtle Beaches
100-200 - Steelseries (had a pair and loved them)
>200 - Astros _________________

I think I'm gonna be in the same boat of just getting what I can afford unfortunately. I looked at Astros last night, one of them was 300 bucks. _________________

Yeah the A40s are 300$, they are also the best headset on the market for Xbox pretty much.
The x12s are pretty good for $50 _________________
