I haven't played this game in over a month. It's a wonderful game, I just don't have any desire to play it...if that makes sense?

Completely understood.

I can't put my finger on why this is, but if I had to guess, it would be because of the lack of any real "community".

Same here, I might go back to it eventually but I think I burnt myself out of it. I have been on a GT5 kick for the past few weeks.

That's probably it. Like, I always have fun when I play, but I have no desire to play it. Maybe because I've unlocked everything and there's no real reason to play anymore?

Probably because this game seems much more noob friendly then BF2BC, the community is absolutely awful, almost comparable to Call of Duty, the majority of the pre-DLC maps are freaking awful, and the suppression system is about as stupid as they come. Now that I think of it, the suppression system in BF3 maybe the worst thing in any video game.

This is still a fantastic game, it's probably better then Call of Duty, but I[as well] have no desire to play it anymore.

Yeah, I haven't played much lately either.

Take away all the extra explosives (M320, frag rounds, the ability to have 9 RPG's, Claymores) and the game would be much better. Also would be good if they did more localized patches instead of just these once in a while 2 GB fixes that leave issues behind.

I hadn't played it for a week, downloaded the patch a day or so after it came out, and still haven't played. I might end up getting rid of the game tbh. There's nothing to keep me playing now that I hit level 45.

What's wrong with the suppression system? Makes sense to me as a way to reward suppressing fire in a video game.

You should not be rewarded for not being able to hit your target, period. There's no reason for it, it's stupid - the effects are pretty stupid but I can tolerate them for a bit; but there's no reason to reward some for missing consistently.

It's not a reward for missing your target. It's a way to simulate the real-life effects of getting shot at. If you were being shot at, even if every bullet was missing, my guess is you would be freaking out a bit. It just simulates that. And also allows LMGs to legitimately lay down suppressing fire for teammates, which can't be done in CoD very effectively.

I think it's smart, I wish more games would implement it.

It's foolish for you to actually believe that those effect simulate anything close to real life. It's also foolish to think that anyone playing BF3 is trying to "supress" their target - they're not trying to, they're trying to kill them, and they're missing - but HEY LET'S REWARD THE SCRUBS!

Another reason how this game became more noob friendly.

This. I would love to see Remix come up with a better system of simulating the fear of bullets being shot at you. Laughing Rolling Eyes

Last I knew they were still playing around with the level of suppression. For a while it was definitely too much, I think once the right balance is found it would be great.

I do hate getting suppression ribbons though, to me that just says my aim is terrible Laughing

I have served time downrange, it doesn't even come up to a fraction of simulating it.

When you get suppression points, you're not actually trying to suppress the enemy, you're trying to kill them - but they give you points for trying. It's stupid, you're rewarded for not killing your enemy - like I said, just another thing that made this game more noob friendly.

TBH I've actually fired at people just to suppress them (like if they are hiding around a corner). Not that many people will run out when 200 rounds of M60 are firing at them. Seriously my accuracy with all the LMG's is terrible
