Tottenham Hotspur select, Dino Zoff:
Zoff becomes the 4th Italian member of my defense. Zoff won 6 Serie A titles, 2 Copa Italias and the Uefa Cup. He also became the oldest ever winner of the World Cup when he captained Italy to victory in the 1982 World Cup. Zoff also holds the record for the longest playing time without allowing goals in international tournaments (1142 minutes) set between 1972 and 1974. A superb piece to my team, imo. _________________

Gigi Buffon
Debated between him and another goalkeeper but in the end, I was actually able to watch him be the best goalkeeper while I was growing up watching football. Won multiple Serie As, a World Cup and even a Serie B crown, Buffon would be my keeper. _________________

Ricardo Zamora
| Quote: | The fondly remembered Ricardo Zamora is an unmistakable figure even to modern-day football fans. The legendary goalkeeper, who made his name in the 1920s and '30s with a string of gravity-defying saves and heroic performances, was one of the game’s early trendsetters, taking to the pitch in a natty cap and, depending on the time of year, a turtleneck or V-neck sweater.
Dubbed El Divino on account of his divine interventions between the posts, Zamora had all the attributes great No1 possess: feline reflexes, nerves of steel, strength of character and a safe pair of hands. What also set him apart from his goalkeeping contemporaries was an unshakeable belief in his own abilities, a belief that gave rise to a save he patented as his own: La Zamorana, an unorthodox and risky stop executed with his forearm or elbow.
Starring at a time when Spain were not exactly short of fine glovemen, Zamora gained a reputation for excellence that is reflected today by the awarding of the Trofeo Zamora to the keeper with the lowest goals-to-games ratio each season in La Liga. |

Peter Shilton
| Quote: | | England's most capped player with 125 caps to his name, Shilton helped himself to a number of England goalkeeping records during his remarkable career - most matches, sixty-six clean sheets, captain fifteen times and second only in terms of age and length of career to Stanley Matthews. He's also England oldest ever captain, leading the team out at the age of 40 for the Third Place play-off vs. Italy in 1990. He played in the final stages of the World Cup 17 times - a British record - and kept 10 clean sheets, also a record. He went 499 - some say 500 - minutes without conceding a goal |
| Quote: | | One of the few records he missed out on was Gordon Banks' record of seven consecutive matches without conceding a goal - but he came mightily close, twice reaching six games in a row. |

The NY Redbulls gladly select a player I consider a steal this late
José Santamaría
| Quote: | Jose Santamaria is one of very few players to have featured for two national sides—Uruguay and Spain—and even fewer can match his trophy haul. He was a key part of Real Madrid's great side of the late '50s and early '60s, proving himself to be every bit as important as Alfredo Di Stefano or Ferenc Puskas.
He won the Uruguayan league title five times before moving to Madrid, where he continued to collect silverware, including five league titles, a Spanish Cup, and four European Cups.
He played 20 times for Uruguay and 16 times for Spain, playing in three World Cups. |
