| Quote: | | The Bengals have announced that former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson has been hired. He’ll serve as an assistant coach helping the secondary and special teams | .
He went from Head Coach of the Raiders to the assistant Special Teams/Secondary Coach in 1 year. That will hurt his ego. _________________

Hue's ego must really rub people the wrong way. He went from HC to paid intern in a month.
Marvin Lewis better watch his back. He doesn't know it yet, but Jackson is going to take his job. _________________

It's kind of strange i know.
Bengals must have been happy with James Urban and didn't want to move him. But why not make Hue an offensive assistant? _________________

What I really thinks going on here is an intricate act by Hue Jackson and Mike Brown. Mike Brown wouldn't allow Carson Palmer to be traded to give the illusion of being hesitant to pull of the trade and make it appear as if he was trying to increase Palmer's trade value when he and Jackson already agreed to have the Raiders make one of the worst trades is football history. Hue and Brown accepted the deal all the way in the off-season and agreed to a 1st and 3rd so Hue could join the Bengals who would be stacked with picks and agreed to have Jackson act out of control with power and ego to get himself fired on purpose as quitting then joining the Bengals would be fishy. He's starting off at a lowly position not to draw any thoughts of conspiracy but is being prepared as Marvin Lewis's successor.
But seriously I'm honestly surprised he's only getting an assistant coaching job. Yes he needs to check his ego at the door but he's a brilliant offensive mind I'm sure someone could have used him at least at WR coach. |

No team wants his ego most likely. Especially since he'd think he'd be GM like IMO. _________________

Actually all of us in Falcons land quite liked him and who he was. While he was here he was awesome and we would have been more than happy to have him back. _________________

Bengals loved him too. He's an awesome coach. If he never finds a HC job again, i do expect that someday in the near future he'll be locked into one of those offensive coordinator forever type roles. I can't see him spending more than 2 years as an assistant before getting another coordinator role. _________________

It's the least the Bengals can do after he helped them fleece the Raiders in the Carson trade. _________________

'Brilliant offensive mind' statements are getting a little carried away.
The guys offense was stuck in the mud, then would hit a big play. His play calling would get complacent, predictable and boring for large stretches of the game. A number of games in the 2nd half the offense was completely stale and actually went some ridiculous stretch without scoring in the 4th quarter. Constantly giving up leads or letting teams back in the game. Never mind the fact they had issues in the red zone all season.
It's no surprise to me he wasn't hired as an OC. His 'brilliant offensive mind' didn't resonate with those hiring.
Sure ego played into this, but if he was a 'brilliant offensive mind' he'd have been scooped up and held in check by a HC calling the shots. Fact is, he's not the great or he'd be coaching something and not the Bengals towel boy. _________________
