I know it's really early, but based on what you know from each player, who do you expect to make the team out of the players we drafted?
(undrafted free agents do not count)
1st pick: Morris Claiborne - No brainer
2nd pick: Tyrone Crawford - Apparently has a "motor" ... yes
3rd pick: Kyle Wilber - Yes for backup reasons to Spencer
4th pick: Matt Johnson - This is a tough one, I can see him staying for depth
5th pick: Danny Coale - Provides great depth at WR...hes a keeper
6th pick: James Hanna - Pretty raw player, most likely 3rd TE or practice team
7th pick: Caleb McSurdy - Being a MT guy myself, I like him...but who does he beat out to stay? Special teamer for sure...
So apparently I can see them all on the 53 player roster. Matt Johnson and Caleb McSurdy in my opinion have the most to prove if they are going to make the team.
What are your opinions? _________________

I think the first 5 appear to be pretty big no-brainers at least to make the initial roster.
I know people wonder about a player from Eastern Washington, but no one watching the war room camera during the draft would think Johnson has any chance to be cut. The whole organization was psyched.
I think all of them make the initial 53. I think the most likely to be cut is Hanna. If his hands keep failing him, and he can't prove to be an asset on ST, then he may bite the dust.
But I think they all make the initial roster. _________________

1st pick: Morris Claiborne - Yes.
2nd pick: Tyrone Crawford - Yes. he will be a part of the D line rotation, and add a bit of passrush.
3rd pick: Kyle Wilber - Yes. but only as a backup for Spencer, and he will rarely get a snap since I think that Butler will have almost the same role as before.
4th pick: Matt Johnson - Yes. Rob Ryan wants his defence to make plays, Johnson can do that. I think that he will get a little amount of snaps, but he will primary be a ST player the 1st season. but I see him contending for a starting job next season.
5th pick: Danny Coale - he will make the cut. I see him being our guy in the slot.
6th pick: James Hanna - This is a tuff one, but I think that he will make it. also because he might end up on another roster if they try to get him on PS.
7th pick: Caleb McSurdy - I don't think so. my guess is that Orie Lemon will be the 4th ILB on the roster, and that McSurdy will be cut. _________________ The lonely supporter of Phil Costa.. |

Wow... I'm apparently the nervous nellie here with only 5... usually everyone thinks of me as the uber-homer.
But I'll go back to my Optimistic declarations with this: I think both our 4th round picks start next year. _________________

I can go with Johnson, I got a little hope myself that he will get the starting job already this year.. but Wilber? I doubt it.
what do you see us doing with Spencer then? give him backup duty? trade him? I just don't see Wilber winning the job.. but I don't think it's complete impossible.. I heard that Wilber did do a good job so far at mini camp, but one thing is lining up against UDFA's, another thing is NFL players. I doubt that he can do as good as Spencer in 2012, if he even ever a going to be as good. I believe that you are underrating Spencer as almost every Cowboys fan.. he would be the starter on most teams around the league. _________________ The lonely supporter of Phil Costa.. |

Over the last couple of years the cowboys just like many other teams in the NFL have a history of not keeping all there picks on the 53 man roster and because of that i believe they will most likely cut McSurdy and hope to keep him on the Practice Squad. _________________

To be clear, I mean "2013" when I say next year.
What I'm saying is that I think Wilber shows enough by the end of the year that we let Spencer go get his $. _________________
