"After speaking to the Falcons, the player rep for free agent DE John Abraham believes his client is headed for the open market."
this does not come as a surprise to Falcons fans, Abe has a huge cap number, and will also be 34 next season. Abe has certainly lost a step, and he racked up most of his sack numbers in single games against bad competition.
if Abe is willing to come back at a significant less number, we surely would welcome him back. I don't see that happening, however.

No surprise, the Falcons have too many young free agents they need to lock up (Grimes/Lofton/DeCoud), no need to put that money towards a 34 year old DE.
I get the feeling that he will be a Patriot, Abraham screams NE Patriot signing. |

I thought they were switching back to the 3-4? _________________

I always loved Abraham. Hopefully he goes to a team that's on my like list. |

They're gonna break the bank for Mario Williams. Writing's been on the wall for months now. _________________

I sure hope so. If we are going to break the bank on someone, it might as well be him. |

No surprise really. Abraham is still talented but is getting older. As to Mario Williams, the guy would be a great fit in Atlanta IMO. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |

It would set their franchise back even further than the Julio Jones trade did.
I'll laugh if they do. _________________

how would upgrading the pass rush hurt the franchise when we have over 35M in cap space right now? re-sign Grimes, Lofton, Decoud, McClure, Weems, Snelling and Douglas, we would still have the money to go after Super Mario. _________________

I'll laugh if they do. | This. I'm losing all confidence in their front office. After that Julio trade and Robinson signing it seems as if TD is in pure win now mode. That doesn't work often. _________________

Your comment makes absolutely no sense. Mario Williams can become a free agent if Houston doesn't re-sign him. We wouldn't trade for him. _________________

And which of these young players would you say are top 10 at their position? Top 5?
Unless you have star players, guys who can legitimately take over a game, I really dont see your team moving any closer to a Super Bowl. You may have young players, but every team has a young core like you have. And when I look at the Falcons, Im not impressed compared to other teams in the league. Just a lot of average guys at every spot. The only "young" star potential I see are Julio and Witherspoon and even then, I doubt they are ever top 5 at their position. |
