Wow, I love those top sheets you created. I'm going to do a bit of a write up at halftime in the United v Liverpool game. _________________

This really is a great match up for the final, with both teams having amazing attacking payers. However, I think my team is better in a number of areas. Firstly, my team and the formation I have them playing is far more balanced imo.
The key to Amac's team is his front 4. No doubt they are ridiculously talented and would be hard to stop, however, I think my back 4 are reasonably well suited to play them. Firstly I think Maldini would be able to do a job on Figo. As great as Figo was, I believe that Maldini was better. He has the pace to keep up with Figo and the physicality to shut him down. Ronaldo would be the hardest player to mark, however, Vidic with his power and physicality and Nesta with his finesse would be a pretty good partnership for stopping him. I think that Pele is being made a bit redundant in this formation. He is a classic CF, not a winger. This would also really limit the width that his team has.
Midfield would be another great match up. Vieira and Redondo are a great partnership, but I think that in this formation they would really limit the way in which the team would be able to link defense and attack. Neither Redondo or Vieira have the ability that Laudrup had, and with Souness getting stuck into them I think we could boss it. If needed Giggs and Messi would drop into deeper positions and we would have a great numerical advantage that would undoubtedly put us into the driving seat.
Again I think my front 4 would tear his defense to pieces. The fact that he has absolutely no width in midfield would leave Messi and Giggs to run at Cole and Krul all game. There is no way that either of them can realistically cover their man over 90 minutes, both would get roasted imo. Van Basten and Henry against Santamaria and Terry is another extremely favorable match up in my opinion.
I just think that in this formation my team would have the superior numbers and technical ability in the middle of the park, which would limit his players going forward. Also, I think my team has better balance on the whole. _________________

I said all this and more when we seeded teams. Said it in the matchups. Also had said it when I'd pmed. Understand the #1 seed in the finals, voted as such for your team during the seeding and the matchups. I don't understand how some of the people here kept voting in favor of his team and into this finals match. They didn't recognize what you and I have known.

Giggs, Henry, Messi, and Van Basten would absolutely shread Amac's back 4. I said Kempus had the best team when this started and it's still true. Winner winner chicken dinner. _________________

Credit to amac who was really the dark horse of this tournament, but I think Kempus' team takes this one for all the reasons mentioned.
It's been really enjoyable to follow the draft/match-ups I have to say. Credit to Dot and Kempus and those who participated for making it happen. _________________

lol wow 11-1. i didnt expect to win but thats pretty lopsided for a final. for the record pele did play the left-inside forward role i have him in, and he was versatile enough to drift wide if needed, plus cole could also provide width. and i still think redondo-vieira are more than capable than getting the ball to the forwards but oh well. kudos kempus _________________

To me, this match up came down to which defense to I trust more to stop both team's potent offenses. I just don't feel that Cole even at his peak can contain Messi and that Terry has the pace to nullify van Basten and Henry. _________________

For the sake of a bit of debate, I would love anyone who voted for amac to give their reasons why. _________________

amac's center midfield is more than able to hold their own against Souness and Landrap. Redondo and Vieira would be able to starve service to Giggs, Henry, Van Basten, and Messi.
Also, Pele, Ronaldo, and Figo would be able to break through any defense. It's a deadly team. _________________
