Parise is reportedly not interested in pulling over the arch rivals Rangers sweater. I'd expect Sather to push hard on the Nash front though.
Should he leave NJ, the favorites would be Minnesota, Philly, Boston, Detroit, and maybe LA.
Lots of rumors as of late so expect a busy off-season. _________________

I would be surprised if Murray has a role in Detroit next year. He doesn't really add anything.
The rumor coming up recently that concerns me is the Preds dealing Suter's rights like they have in the past. I think he's a Wing if he makes it to July, and possibly even if his rights do get dealt, but clearly it's preferable for him to hit the open market. _________________

Lightning acquire goalie Lindback from Predators.
| Quote: | | The Lightning sent a pair of 2012 second-round picks, a 2013 third-round pick and goaltender Sebastian Caron to the Predators in exchange for Lindback, forward Kyle Wilson and a 2012 seventh-round pick. |

Great trade for Nashville -- they deal from a position of strength and get draft picks. As you know, they're a great drafting team, so they'll get more out of those draft picks than what Lindback or Wilson would have given them.
A little on a risky side for Steve Yzerman. Lindback enters his age 24 season in '12-13 and has 28 career starts. He's promising, as every Nashville goaltender is dressed to be, but he's never done it without Barry Trotz. The picks Yzerman dealt to get Lindback are the ones you give up for a more established commodity. _________________

Senators, Karlsson agree on 7-year contract extension
| Quote: | | Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson pulled off a feat on Tuesday that most men can only dream of. The 22-year-old Norris Trophy finalist signed a seven-year contract worth a reported $45.5 million while in Las Vegas -- a city that is basically made of money. |

6.5 a year? Not too bad. _________________

His total contract is going to be huge, but I doubt is cap hit is over 7.5 mil. Even that would be a slight surprise to me. _________________

That is true. He'll get some Rick Dipietro length. _________________

Pulling a Crosby , 6.5 for #65
I like the deal a lot, moreso because there are some unrestricted years Karlsson is giving up . IMO, the gamble is on Karlsson's side, if the dude improves his defensive game at the pace he has for the last 3 seasons, his agent will be in serious trouble in a couple of years _________________

That is a good deal for both sides. Karlsson is someone I expect to build off this past year and become a major star in the NHL. I really like his game. Great skater, good offensive ability, and a smart player.
FYI, I just created a thread to discuss NHL offseason news about a few minutes ago. _________________

Steven Stamkos with a post-awards ceremony piece.
I don't see awards talk anywhere, which is surprising. Here's how the awards went, the major ones at least:
Hart: Evgeni Malkin (Stamkos, Lundqvist)
Selke: Patrice Bergeron (Backes, Datsyuk)
Jack Adams: Ken Hitchcock (Tortorella, MacLean)
Vezina: Henrik Lundqvist (Quick, Rinne)
Calder: Gabriel Landeskog (Nugent-Hopkins, Henrique)
Norris: Erik Karlsson (Weber, Chara)
It was basically chalk until you get to the Norris. I fully expected Shea Weber to win. Karlsson had 1,069 points to Weber's 1,057 so the margin was razor thin, but wow.
Very happy for Patrice Bergeron. He deserves it. Happy for Landeskog too, my birthday buddy. _________________

Shea Weber should have won the Norris but with the volume points that Karlsson put up, he was tough to beat. Surprised the final results were that close. _________________
