Welcome to the 2012 Eagles Offseason Thread II

Ok fellas, that time of year has come around once again. As usual, in here we can discuss all things Eagles that are going on, while avoiding the dreaded "dumb offseason threads." Feel free to post any minor FA pick-ups, rumors swirling about players, guys you want to see in midnight green, potential coaching moves, complaints about the team, and whatever else you think is important, but not necessarily worthy of its own thread entirely.

However, if we do sign a new coach or FA (for example), feel free to make a new thread so we can discuss that topic further in there. This is more for news updates as they come out. And I know my track record around these parts is an immaculate one, but please don't feel intimidated by that. If you come across some news that hasn't been posted yet, put it in here and I will update the OP.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Thankfully we'll find out Jackson's tag status within the next week, and Free Agency starts two weeks from tomorrow (March 13th @ 4pm EST).

Was listening to sports talk radio this morning and watching ESPN and it was all about RG3. Locally, I guess that interview we conducted with him has their juices going.

First, on ESPN they had Herm Edwards talking to him about some special socks he was wearing then said they'd have a sock off on draft day. RG3 asked if it was a challenge. Herm backed off a little and said that it would just be a friendly game. And RG3 asked him don't we "play to win the game?" Which I thought was fast and sharp for a kid. Just thought I'd share.

Now to the meat of it. The radio hosts were asking if we were able to jump up and grab him, would you? They proposed that it would take this year's and next year's 1st and both our 2nds this year. It's a steep price but is he worth it? I imagine the bulk of us want these 3 picks to net us at least a couple defensive starters, which would help us make a final push to the super bowl. However, we could lock up our future QB now and start this rebuilding after we would cut Vick next year. But that means returning most of the same defense, barring we don't add much in FA. So, would you and what would be fair value for you to move that far up?

I'd be much more comfortable giving that up for Luck obviously. If they rate him as high as most people do, and fix our areas of need in FA.....I'd be perfectly fine with moving up and getting him.

However I wouldn't give 2 1sts and 2 2nds. I'd give them this years 1st, one of the seconds, and Asante (or maybe desean) and maybe something next year to sweeten it like a third. I like RG3 but I still have a little bit of doubt for being somewhat of a one year wonder, but Cam showed that's not a big deal and Griffen would sit at least a year...probably.

I think the Browns have too much to offer though and will move up and get him. They need a star on that team to build around....RG3 is the kind of guy who will sell tickets, get them on National TV and perhaps knock them out of their perpetual state of mediocrity.

Howard Eskin (a Philly guy) reported that the Redskins should be offering, their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 1st (2013) for the number two overall.

If this is anywhere near true, then I would rather wait for next year to draft a QB.

D'Qwell Jackson resigned with the Browns today, and his contract was 5 years/$42.5 million with $19 million guaranteed. Those numbers may just set the market for the top remaining LB class in this year's Free Agency (Tulloch, Lofton, Hawthorne, Connor).

One could hope one or more of those players were willing to take less money to play for a potential contender.

8.5 million on average for a good, but often injured MLB?

He also said it will cost about the same as what the Giants gave to S.D. to move up to #1 to get Eli Manning.
Two 1st's, a 3rd and a 5th.

Cleveland, washington and a third "mystery" team are thought to be most likely Trade partners.

Teams don't insist on being the "mystery" team unless they don't want to upset the balance of what they have now.

Eagles. Vick. Don't want to upset things if it is announced we are trying but can't. RGIII.

Mystery Team could be the Eagles.
