A few words from the Seahawks GM:
"No doubt we respect Sidney as a high caliber player and a #1 WR in our system. However, with the recent injuries and the emergence of other young and upcoming WR like Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate, we couldn't pass on the deal the Jags have offered."
Salary Cap Numbers are as follows:
Loss of Sidney Rice: +7,000,000
*Draft Picks currently not counted towards Cap Room
Previous Salary Cap Room: 47,920,000
Current Salary Cap Room: 54,920,000 _________________ GM of the Seattle Seahawks in MDFDG 12 |

I do not know how guaranteed money is calculated in terms of a cap hit, but I do know that signing bonus money is subtracted from any savings.
Meaning it would only be $3M in cap room savings (i.e. $7M - $4M SB still spread out)

Yep - his total cap hit was 9,000,000 with 2M guaranteed. That 2M is dead money and the Jags get the rest. _________________ GM of the Seattle Seahawks in MDFDG 12 |

Sorry. I was incorrect before. If it was a $9M cap hit this year, the savings would be $5M (i.e. $9M - $4M SB). You cannot transfer payment of a salary bonus to another team (that's real NFL rules); the trading team has to absorb the SB. |
