If they were to sue, it would prove that the NFL owners were in collusion while the locked out was happening.......all hell will then break loose. |
Not necessarily...it's not as "open and shut" like the bloggers have reported; it's all very technical and arguable...and even if it was decided it was collusion, NLFPA couldn't do anything about it now as they have no right to a claim as they gave up all future legal claims in a bargained-for settlement agreement for the new CBA. All that would do is give them future ammo for the next CBA negotiations, and that wouldn't necessarily prove anything in a prima facie way, i.e. not establishing some pattern of collusion on the NFL's part; it would just be evidence of a one-time occurrence.
But yeah, smart move would be to take it. |

So I had this dream last night, that the Redskins didn't draft RGIII, they traded all the way up to take Ryan Tanehill! _________________

Giants have very little to talk about. And I mean this in all seriousness. It's a lot easier to get debates going when your team is doing poorly, or can't get to the next level. You can tear into coaches, players, come up clever strategies to improve a team. There is some tension between posters due to strong differences in opinion of who is to blame. There is a lot more to debate when there are disagreements.
When you're a fan of a good team, what is there to debate? The Giants front office put together a squad that hasn't had a losing record in 6 years, and won the Superbowl twice in that span. Everyone is happy. Everyone is in agreement. There is no ripping coaches, or questioning how the GM is building the team, because it's being done the right way. There is no debate. It's all just agreement about how awesome we are. But that's kind of boring.
I like to get a nice debate going. So I have to resort to other forums whether it's the comparison forum, draft forum, news forum, and of course - the Eagles forum. No better place to get a debate going, than a place filled with bitter rivals that are jealous of your success. |
I always find it hilariously ironic how nothing is ever going wrong and yet once again the Giants were talking about canning Coughlin halfway through this season. Sure, everything worked out and the Giants got hot and the defense finally stepped up come playoff time along with Eli but they were a game away from firing their HC and starting all over again, so let us not pretend like everything is always peaches n cream in Giant country. _________________

It's true. Everything wasn't peaches and cream. Giants fans weren't happy campers from about week 9 to week 15. And it wasn't Coughlin that the Giants were upset at, it was Perry Fewell and the defense. But winning a Superbowl puts all that in the rear view mirror. You have to be some kind of pessimist to not be happy as a Giants fan right now.
Anyway, rumor is that Burress wants to be an Eagle. Thoughts? _________________

I think our forum is split right down the middle. On one hand, a few us like his red zone prowess, so we feel as though he could be a positive addtion to our team (on a short term low level contract, that is). On the other hand, some posters feel as though he offers little to nothing between the 20's, and would be a distraction for our locker room (not to mention probably wanting more money than he's worth right now).
Personally, I am not against adding him to our team for the right price. But from all accounts, the interest is coming mainly from Burress' side, as opposed to it being mutual. _________________

Deoending on the money, I wouldn't mind adding Plax as a red zone target. _________________

This keeps being said, but would he even be on the field between the 20s? With Desean, Maclin, and Avant as Reid favorite #3 receiver. Also add in the fact that the double tight end set it a favorite of big red. _________________

Plexico is pointless since WE DON"T GO OUT GET PLAYERS JUST TO BE RED ZONE TARGETS! _________________

Wonder if andy still holds a grudge vs Plax for blowing him off twice before the draft? _________________

And in Free Agency twice I believe. Last year and I think we had interest when he left the steelers. That's why I find it funny he keeps saying how bad he wants to be an Eagle now....fifth times the charm Plax? _________________

Wouldn't mind Plax on a 1 year deal. If he wants to be an Eagle he can come for cheap.
I'd rather have Plax a hundred times before Chad Hall. Swap them out. _________________

Biggest obstacle will probably be price. He's the best FA WR left on the market meaning he can demand the highest dollar at the position of the remaining receivers.
But wow talk about the move that could put you over the top. This guy even in his 1st year back in the league had basically 800 yards with 8 TDs.
With another year to get his legs back, you put Plaxico on that team and even between the 20s he's making an impact
And in the redzone, forget about it.

We have Plax in our back pocket, he wants to come here, and I'm sorry but the market for a 35 year old wide reciever who is a year removed from a 2 year stint in the slammer is just not there. He will come cheap wherever he goes, and cheaper if he comes here. |

Arguments like this are dumb, just because we haven't done something doesn't mean we won't. Remember the "we don't go out and get players over 30" line? Enter Nnamdi/Babin. I don't see how a specialty player/red zone target wouldn't be an improvement over Chad Hall. _________________

Does AR like players that he can to multiple things with?
According to every major source, Plaxico wants a certain dollar amount to come in and be a major part of any offence. Caplin just reported that same thing on Eagles live on Monday.
Please don't hand me this "over 30" crap. It's a myth. It's not the way we do business. We get rid of players before they take a major drop in talent. You, and people like you, think 30 is the magic number.
I'll explain this so you can understand. Plaxico's best's routes are the fade and jump. Vick can't throw either pass. He isn't an acurate passer. We just gave Jackson a boat load of money and McCoy needs to get the ball more, not less. Vick is just getting comfortable with Celek. With all of that in mind, What the h#ll do you think he brings to this team. I'll help you, Nothing but drama.
Once again, some people around here just want to bring in every single player that's available. There is a reason the 49'ers went out and signed Moss instead of even visiting with Burress. He's a bad guy and a bad teamate. _________________
