If the Vikings draft Kalil, the backups to him will be Patrick Brown and DeMarcus Love. I can envision Love as being our new version of Artis Hicks (if he's not starting at one of the G positions), being able to back up both G and T positions.

I see Love as the most likely to start at RG, assuming MN doesnt add a guard in free agency or within the first couple rounds of the draft.

Brown is just a camp body. Honestly, MN could probably get away with carrying 8 Olineman given the versatility of Johnson/Berger/Love/Fusco being able to play multiple positions.

I actually think that Berger will win the RG job, or at least has the lead for that.

I think Berger is probably the early on favorite, I like Love's physical potential a bit more though. Id still love to add Brandon Brooks in round 3 (comp pick) or 4, he reminds me of Carl Nicks quite a bit, being a supremely athletic massive OG.

I'd rather the Vikings draft Kevin Zeitler...however, Zeitler may be working himself up to the 2nd round!!!

news out for Hutchinson lists the TENN Titans as wanting to talk with him, and trying to use signing him as leverage to also attract Peyton Manning?

whaaat?

Manning would sign with a team because they have Steve Hutchinson...?

don't know if anyone else reported this, i didn't see it yet if they did.

Hutch would be a huge upgrade for the Titans, the Titans interior line is worse than ours.

Hopefully that means Hutch wont go after Nicks/Grubbs.

Wait, signing Hutch as leverage for Manning? I was under the impression we wanted to sign Hutch because our interior O-line is historically atrocious. That would make a wee bit more sense, yes? Laughing

as i wrote, it was a news report (in PFT) that suggested the Titans would use Hutchinson to lure Manning to them.

feel free to criticize PFT as the core source, not me. yes? Laughing

Oh, I didn't mean to be incendiary. Sorry if it came across that way. I was legitimately amused.

And yes...that's PFT for ya.

How is Hutch leverage? That's like trying to use the water boy as leverage. He's over the hill and then some.

Steve Hutchinson may be heading back to Seattle.

Hutchinson, the seven-time Pro Bowl guard who was released by the Vikings last week, is visiting with the Seahawks today, Mike Sando of ESPN.com reports.

A source with knowledge of the contract tells PFT that Hutchinson receives from the Titans a $4.5 million signing bonus, plus a fully-guaranteed $2 million base salary in 2012.

He also is due to earn a $500,000 roster bonus and a base salary of $4.75 million in 2013, plus a base salary of $5 million in 2014.

It’s a total of $16.75 million over three years. If the Titans decide to move on after one year, he’ll still be almost where he would have been if the Vikings had kept him for the final year of their contract.

Apparently, he checked out well with their docs. The concern was his injuries, which seemed to slow him. But perhaps he's in better condition now?

Of course, the deal is voidable after 1 year, but the guaranteed money seems to say he is well enough to play at an effective level for at least a year.
