Quote:
There have been rumblings recently that QB - Ryan Tannehill could go as high as the 4th overall pick to Cleveland, but also could go #3 if a team really falls in love with him and wants to trade up. I'm not saying this is a likely scenario, but just something that is fun to play around with.

*I'm not going to delve into free agency, I'll just say that the Vikes will eventually sign Erin Henderson and he will be a three down LB for us this year (Jasper Brinkley will likely handle 2-down MLB duties).

*The Vikings receive 3rd (1), 4th (1), and 7th (1) compensatory picks

Trade: The Seahawks trade their 2012 1st (#12), 2012 2nd (#43), and 2013 1st to the Vikings for the #3 overall pick.

Rationale: The Seahawks seem to have an affinity for Vikings cast offs (Sidney Rice, Tarvaris Jackson, Darrell Bevell, and they have now brought in Visanthe Shiancoe for a visit), so it stands to reason that they could be interested in talking trade with us. They miss out on Matt Flynn when he signs with Miami so they go all in to get their guy in Ryan Tannehill. Their GM, John Schneider, is a Tannehill guy and, as I pointed out before, there are rumblings that Tannehill could go as high as #4. I think this trade sets the Vikings up nicely this year and in the future.

1|12 - David DeCastro [OG] Stanford (alternate pick: Dontari Poe [DT] Memphis)

Trade: The Vikings trade their 2nd (#35) and 4th (#99) to the Baltimore Ravens for their 1st (#29).

1|29 - Stephen Hill [WR] Georgia Tech
2|43 - Josh Robinson [CB] UCF
3|67 - Markelle Martin [FS] Oklahoma State (alternate pick: Amini Silatolu [OG] Midwestern State)
3|CP - Nate Potter [T] Boise State
4|CP - Audie Cole [LB] NC State
5|131 - Malik Jackson [DE] Tennessee
6|163 - Donnie Fletcher [DB] Boston College
6|165 - Tyler Nielsen [LB] Iowa
7|195 - Blair Walsh [K] Georgia
7|203 - Adonis Thomas [RB] Toledo
7|CP - Beau Reliford [TE] Florida State

Rip away, as I said it's just a for fun scenario as I feel we are likely locked in at #3.

Love, love the Josh Robinson pick. Have you watched film on him? His recovery speed and ball skills are awesome.

I don't think any of this happens. But for the most part I love the picks and the ingenuity!

Yeah, Josh has definitely grown on me. He struggles a bit in press-man due to his size but in off-zone his speed and agility are great assets.

Blair Walsh, oh no..

As a Georgia fan i have watched him go from the best placekicker in the nation to a completely unreliable guy, his senior season was so bad, i doubt he will get a chance in the NFL.

Like Josh Robinson, DeCastro, Nate Potter..

I'm alright with everything except trading our 2nd and 4th to move up a couple spots to get Stephen Hill. We aren't making any moves in FA and that extra 4th (99 overall) could be very important to us.

I like the trade back. But i would take Michael Floyd instead of Decastro there at 12.

I doubt Floyd lasts that far, I would think the Bills would scoop him up in a heart beat now that they signed Mario Williams. The bills could use a big #1 type WR with Stevie Johnson being a really good #2.

Would cream my pants if this happened!!!!!

Would take Decastro there in a heartbeat...but would switch a few things..I wouldnt trade up to 29..we need the picks(do like Hill tho)

Robinson is moving up boards and would have to get him at 35..so pick him 35 and at 43 take whichever DT is available...Worthy or Ta'amu

Take WR Quick or Streeter at 67 and drop Martin to Comp pick... Potter drops to 99 (which we wouldnt have traded) and leave the rest except for K Walsh (yuck)

Take WR at that spot since we are thin.. say BJ Cunningham MSU

Also think we need a blocking TE and Harkey outta UCLA is rumored to be the best

Update would look like this:

RD1 - 12 Decastro G
RD2- 35 Robinson CB
RD2 - 43 Worthy/Ta'amu DT
RD3 - 67 Quick/Streeter WR
RD3 Comp - Martin FS
RD4 - 99 Potter T
RD4 Comp - Cole LB
RD5 - 131 Jackson DE
RD6 - 163 Fletcher DB
RD6 - 165 Nielsen LB
RD7 - 195 Cunningham WR
RD7 - 203 Thomas RB
RD7 Comp - Harkey TE

Pipe Dream indeed..Floyd at 12 would be my first choice but i believe he will be off the board before then

Don't like Stephen Hill at all, suspect hands, and I distrust work-out warriors at WR.

Nate Potter does not have the athleticism to play left tackle in the NFL.

I don't think this fixes WR or LT, and we need to improve those.

If you are going to trade back, at least pick up a guy like Reiff, Martin or Adams.

Yes. If this scenario played out for the 1st round, I wouldn't bother drafting a tackle at all. No tackle after Kalil, Reiff, and maybe Martin will improve the Vikings offensive line.

So, I would do what needed to be done to draft OG Zeitler from Wisconsin or Brooks from Miami (prefer Zeitler). Zeitler is the 2nd best guard after DeCastro on most experts boards.

If they trade down to 12, I take Kuechly, assuming Reiff and Martin are gone. I think you can find a OG in round 2/3 (well, other teams can), that will be league average or better.

If I am trading back up into round 1 (because really, they aren't going to keep 12 players form this draft, so I'm all for moving up in rounds 1-3), I'd take the best OL or DB available at that spot. Likely I'd stay where I am in round 2, and take OL and WR/DB. Then use my picks in later rounds to get another 3rd rounder.

Have to laugh at those saying Potter doesn't have the athleticism to play left tackle. He was among the best blindside protectors in college football. The biggest knock on him is the need to add a bit more bulk. He definitely wouldn't start right away though.

Quote:
He's a "plus" caliber athlete who exhibits superior range off the edge, looks much more natural getting into the second level and laterally holds up much better when asked to shuffle and slide in pass protection.

Quote:
Potter is an excellent athlete at the tackle position. He possesses above-average footwork and one of the better kick-slides in the draft. His strength leaves a bit to be desired and he’ll have to get stronger in the lower half to be a starter in the league.

Quote:

He is an impressive athlete who lettered in basketball, lacrosse, as well as track and field in high school, proving to be more athletic than your typical trenchma
