Former Browns stalwart guard Eric Steinbach will workout for Ravens Tues. He's recovered from back problems and other AFC teams interested.. |
I would much rather have Steinbach starting than Williams if Osemele or Reid doesn't win the spot. There would be a ton of competition for the LG spot if they did sign him. Even now there's 4 battling it out (well, 3 main contenders but I think Gradkowski is in the mix). |
If the Ravens sign Steinbach and he proves to be better than the other left guard options then he will start. This will be a battle so may the best man win, in the words of former boxing referee Mills Lane "Lets Get It On". |

| The Ravens are serious about making sure they have the best player for that left guard spot. Steinbach would be a nice addition if he proves to be healthy and in good football shape. That would be a heck of a competition between he, Williams and Osemele. They cut guard Howard Barbieri yesterday so they have a roster spot open if they decide they want to sign him. Hopefully it works out, the more competition/depth the better we are as a team. |

Ravens didn't immediately sign guard Eric Steinbach after tryout. Hearing it went well, but other teams are interested, too. Fluid situation |
Having so much competition at LG may work against the Ravens as well. Steinbach would probably prefer to go to a team where he has an easier path to starting, if that's what he wants to do (as opposed to looking for the most $$$ or a shot at winning a title, but the latter would be a thing in favor for the Ravens). |

Yea I dont see any of them making the roster. Maybe Blackstock if Kindle is a total dud but thats a long shot. We needed the depth though.
Im wondering if we will bring in a veteran tight end, like getting Kris Wilson back or maybe Daniel Graham. My guess is that if the they want to see Davon Drew or one of the undrafted kids earn a spot, but I dont know how much time they will give them. Im not sure how much faith they can have in Drew after 2 years on the practice squad but who knows. |

| I've been wondering about that too. It seems like the team has always made use of a 3rd/blocking TE in some facet and they don't have that right now. Maybe Figgins, but who knows if he's actually worth anything. |

Matt Balasavage from temples is almost exclusively a blocking tight end/ h back. hes local from my area and at temple his primary duties were as a blocker. could have a good chance of making the team as the third blocking tight end _________________

| Yea I've seen good things on Balasavage. Bruce Figgins was also a blocking specialist at UGA. And he played fullback and was on special teams. Those 2 might not be the most talented undrafted rookies, but theyve got the best shot at a roster spot. Davon Drew is probably the favorite, but its about as wide open as it gets for that 3rd tight end spot. |

Well that was quickest Chargers stint ever- Kyle Boller has apparently quit the team & retired.

Ravens' salary cap figure is now $3.198 million with Bryant McKinnie's $4.2 million cap figure counting with him off reserve/did not report |
Oh good, I was right about the recent signings and the Rule of 51. I'm learning! |

The Ravens have some depth at CB and could eventually be a trade partner for a team in need.

Two years ago the Ravens were desperate to add CB depth (Josh Wilson) and now they are one of the deepest teams in the league at that position. |

I would be surprised if they moved one of their CBs. The only three with any value are Webb, Smith, and Williams. It would be foolish to part with one of them (Williams is the only one that would be traded) given the uncertainty of the pass-rush because of the injury to Suggs as well as a new coordinator calling plays. Relying on any of Graham, Gorrer, Jackson, or Brown to be the 3rd CB wouldn't be a good idea either. Maybe in a year or so one or more of them could develop to that point but not now. I'm hoping Jeremiah was just speculating because of the depth the Ravens have.
It is nice to see the drastic turnaround in the secondary. In my opinion it's the deepest position on the team, and the depth there is more important than any other in my opinion. |

If Gorrer looks strong in preseason he might fool some CB desperate team to make a call to Ozzie. Teams are desperate for CBs like they are for QBs (Charlie Whitehurst got traded to Seattle a couple of years ago because he looked good in preseason for the Chargers). It's just how it is, Josh Wilson wasn't a big big name but he had upside and the Ravens traded for him. In saying all of that I don't think the Ravens trade any of their CBs, they need them now with Suggs being out. Can you imagine if the Ravens had Foxworth, Washington, Walker, and Carr at CB with Suggs out, I would be in panic mode. Our current CB depth is the reason why I'm not in panic mode now. |
