Well we could boot McClain and solve that problem also. He's eating up quite a bit. More than his play on the field is showing and his actions off the field also.

Oh I'm sure we can by cutting people like Lechler, Branch, etc people who are making too much money. Seems like McKenzie has wanted to get cap space for quite some time but can't seem to work the magic to fix what Al screwed up. |
McKenzie wants to sign Branch to a long term contract. That's the number one thing in his plan. If he does, he gets cap room in the process. If not, he'll get to step 2 of the plan. Restructuring a vet. |

Don't want to restructure unless we have to. Restructuring will only push more money back into future years which we'd rather avoid. If Branch signs long term, no need for it. |

That part makes sense but any idea why Branch is taking forever? He has to know signing a long term deal would be extremely beneficial to the team.

You serious?
This is a business. Branch has representation in the form of and agent. It's about the dollar man.
Fact is, right now it's a business negotiation between GM McKenzie and his agent. The Raiders don't need the cap space right now, the core roster is set until the next wave of cuts.
There is no reason for either party to blink. Branch's agent job is to get him as much money as he can. They don't care about the team or how it helps them.
No different than your job. The people you work with are a team and rely on you. If you don't feel you are being compensated enough for the work you do are you going to cave to help Mary Jo in accounting get a raise?
Fans forget this is a money game. Get as much as you can while you can. Period.

Not always the case. I've seen plenty of people take cuts to stay w/ their own team or to help sign anyone. Would like to think someone who has to know they're being overpaid and on this team which needs help would understand, but I guess not. Not only was I overvaluing him as a player before but also a person. Maybe it's b/c I'm selfless also and would like to think there's not a huge difference between 3 mill and yr for many years and 6 for one year.
Oh well.....
I have faith someone will get something done b/c we need it to happen.
EDIT: And to those who are worried, don't be. I'm not getting into any more Branch convos. Hopefully he just annoys me less this season haha

Jason Smith
Tyson Jackson
I thought I remembered hearing something of Jason Peters
Ocho Cinco I believe is who it was from the Patriots....
Those are the names that came straight to my mind but if I looked into them, I'm sure they're similar of what we did. Could be wrong though.

We need cap space to sign a nobody? He'd come for a minimum deal if a team wanted him.
He didn't fit at NT in Cincy, they tried him a G. Seattle took a shot and cut him loose and now cut by the Panthers.
While I welcome competition, I seriously wish fans would realize that just because a guy is big body, it doesn't mean he can play the position.
Shirley wouldn't fix any problems on the Dline anymore than Ivey who is on the roster.

| Panthers fans are sad to see Jason Shirley cut but they seem to ? his discipline (by all accounts he ain't no choirboy). I'm Travis Iveys biggest supporter but Jason Shirley at this point offers a lot more |
