Its about time this thread has a new page. The last one was longer then the list of receivers that signed with the Redskins.

how the hell they can be on the hook for any amount of guaranteed money above the tag value is absurd

how they hell they chose to avoid waiting on this type of deal already having Jackson tagged and given his history is absurd

to me this speaks volumes about management ineptitude on top of their running joke of on field coaching

I don't really see what you are so up in arms about.

why didn't the Eagles just do this last year?

What if this was the Eagles' offer all along and Jackson wanted more?

I think it was difficult to extend last year due to coming out of the lockout and the 30% rule

We have a winner. 2ksports your reading way to much into it. It's a 2 yr deal with escalators and incentives that have to be reached. If the FO were going to pay him 9.5 as a franchise player why not a additional 5.5 for yr two? Thats all that is guaranteed (15m). Then add the fact they lowered the 2012 cap by over 6m without the tag price, whats not to like? It's a contract structured to keep him motivated for the additional 32m yet protect themselves long term. He's being rewarded for the last 4 years of service not the media circus of 2011 and a "singular" season. If you would have told me after the 2008 season that the eagles would have Desean Jackson locked up 6 yrs for around 20 million, I would have jumped for joy. In essence thats what has happened. A Pro Bowl caliber WR/KR for a little over 3.3 million a yr.

Botched what, the offseason, the season, FA, the draft, tackling, re-signing players - being a bit vague aren't you.

We aren't on the hook for more than the tag. The tag was 9.5mill guaranteed this season, the contract is 15 mill over the 5 years. 5 years of franchise tagging would be over 50mill.

There are two things at play here, until you know your cap number for next season you don't negotiate a deal, that's why they didn't happen until FA started because the cap number wasn't known. If the cap number had been released a month ago, all 4 re-signings would have already been done.

Jackson raped this team and played them for twits

He did not, we actually got a pretty good deal out of it if you look at the other contracts handed out.

We draft a Floyd and a Fleener and this move looks good. If we dont, i dunno how i feeel about it.

I dont think DeSeans game translates to the Playoffs. Hes a between the 20's player. We have nothing in the redzone on the edges , nothing.

Yeah, that scraggly excuse for facial hair he was sporting for the last few years was getting annoying.

You mean the game ball? Like Photoshop the name in for each week?
