Is it just me or does it seem like the New Orleans Saints brass is kinda playing the "take less, come play with Drew or under Spags" approach to this offseason?

On offense there no denying that thus far we have clearly taken a step back. With Drew's contract situation it clear he's not a happy camper. Although Ben Grubbs was a great replacement for Carl Nicks, he's also clearly a step down talent wise. We were able to retain Marcus Colston but in my opinion the gap between Meachem and Arrington is massive.

On Defense, my where to start?

BountyGate, suspensions of players and possiable draft picks alike. Wow, all on top of not being very good to begin with! Spagnuolo being the only bright spot thus far isn't enough. He'll need players, we keep hearing about this so called linebacking shakeup... I'm starting to not buy one bit of it!

Mays has resigned with the Broncos and now Bunkley is next in line for Denver and with Manning now in town that old come play with Drew won't work for us anylonger. Tulloch has reuped with the Lions setting the market for Lofton & Hawthorne. Lofton seems set to head to Tampa while Hawthorne will likley settle back in Seattle.

Resigning Dunbar along with some other current bottom feeding free agents seems most likley to happen than anything else at this point and if you compare that to what other good teams around the leauge have been able to accomplish so far this offseason I can't see how we can consider this offseason anything but an epic failure.

I sure do hope I'm proven wrong within the next few days...

I do believe you'll be proven wrong.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the 4th straight day Lofton is in New Orleans. If he wanted Tampa, he would've been long gone.

There is serious interest in both sides is my guess, and they are hammering out a deal.

Same with Bunkley, regardless if Denver wanted him back, you don't spend 3 days in New Orleans for giggles as a free agent.

I think Lofton will get done, I'm less confident in Bunkley.

I'm not so sure that Lofton and Bunkley are still in NOLA... Where are you hearing that they are? From what I'm gathering they've been long gone.

This is from March 19th(yesterday). I'm assuming they are still here or I thought we would've heard something from them saying they have left without a deal (a la Hawthorne).

That was at 2:30pm yesterday... Believe me, I'm with you! I sure do hope there still in town and a deal can be worked out but I also know that dosent mean much these days.

Robert Meachem agreed to a deal with the Chargers while sitting in a Buffalo hotel paid for by the Bills.

read a bit of a theory that it seems like it is way too quiet for us so far. Perhaps the front office is holding back on announcing some signings until we get the bountygate penalties revealed and then next day come out with a few signings such as Brees/Lofton etc. Would definitely go a long way to taking away from the negative vibes from the bounty stuff. Honestly i reckon the league overshot with the way they came out of the gate and sensationalised it to a point where they have no choice but to hammer us though now obvious it is not warranted to the level they originally stated
