All in all, I'm pleased with this offseason and excited as hell for the season to take off.
Bringing in Liriano and Martin is encouraging. Both starting pitching and catcher needed attention and NH brought two respectable veterans that could favor from playing in the NL Central and PNC park. Especially Liriano. If his command is on, he has some filthy stuff.
IMO, the Joel Hanrahan trade could work out brilliantly. Appreciate the time Hammer gave us, but even the value from the original trade that brought him to us just keeps getting better. (Hanrahan, Lastings Milledge for Nyjer Morgan and Sean Burnett) ... Milledge and Morgan couldnt last in the MLB and both are in Japan. And JH gave us "proven closer" trade value vs Sean Burnett.
Melacon and Sands could win the trade alone. Both hold upside/potential, and give us some much needed depth. Both have cheap team control for multiple seasons. With De Jesus in the deal, losing Holt is trivial. Other then in relief, both players don't have have much upside to be an everyday starter.
We still have holes and still need more production from a few positions to become a potential threat, but I feel we're damn sure a .500 team contending for a playoff spot.

I agree. When he took over, not only was our team awful, but our farm system was one of the worst around the league as well. Now, we have a contending ball club and a top 5 farm system. If not the best.
I love his trading philosphies. If he has to sell out of a contract issue (i.e. Hanrahan) he pushes damn hard for top end potential with team friendly contracts. In each deal he always seems to get more players and younger players.

Hopefully I will make it up home and to a game this summer...
or maybe head to Colorado some time the Buccos are in town and enjoy Denver and a few games!
