Keenan Lewis is an integral part of the Defense and had a tremendous season in his Contract Year. Is he worth the Franchise Tag?
I understand Cap Issues are a concern, but he would likely hesitate to sign the Tag, which would act as a Place Holder until a longterm deal can be brokered prior to Camp.

He has had one good year out of 5. I'll bet he will take Ike Taylor money. Someone, could be the Steelers or not, will get him for 4 years 24M _________________

I hope we don't have to Tag him and can sign him before he hits the open market. I'm sure he will talk to us 1st. I hope he takes a deal similar to Ike's. _________________

No way. One good year does not warrant the franchise tag. A cornerback who doesn't get a single interception the entire year isn't worth the money that he would get if you franchise him.
I do hope the two sides can get a deal done though. He finally showed his potential. _________________

I agree with most of the thoughts in the thread.
Lewis had one good year, and it was a contract year. I want to keep him, but I would never pay him top money to stay here. I simply dont trust him to keep playing that well. I have more faith in Carnell Lake to groom another quality corner than I do Lewis continuing to play at a high level.
Wallace had a down year, but that was after 3 years of playing at a starting caliber level.
Plus, the WR tag is slightly cheaper than CB.
Id definitely give Wallace the franchise tag before Lewis.
However, I dont see either getting it. _________________

I agree. I definitely don't want to see us tag him. |
